Close-minded old fart like me. Since you graduated the record is 8-8.

That would bolster the rivalry (which many LSU fans don't seem to want to accept, but it's coming whether you want it or not, as long as we're not a flash in the pan).
I don't mind playing A&M on "rivalry" weekend at all. The Arkansas game has always felt kinda forced. I just don't want LSU playing on Thanksgiving Day.

I'm with ya. Friday or Saturday night after Thanksgiving will work just fine.
Playing on Thanksgiving is an A&M/tu tradition. We shouldn't force playing Thanksgiving day on LSU the way tu is forcing it on the Matadors and Toads.

Whichever day it is, it will def be the most exciting SEC game that weekend.

I remember those beatings, but you really missed my point. A&M was never LSU'S big rivalry game. Was LSU A&M's big rival game when you spanked our arse in the 90's? I didn't think so.

No one ever said it was your biggest rival, but "a" rival.
Unless you claim Rice and Baylor as your long lost BFFs.

Yeah, you beat us a few times in the 90's. That's okay, we de-emphasized our athletics department for about 10 years.

Of course not. What does that have to do with the present day? There's a good chance to turn this into something big.

BTW here's a picture from my 75-76 freshman annual illustrating just how much LSU didn't care about A&M:
I love that sign. You'd never see anything like that in College Station.

I wanna mount that sign on a couple empty 55 gallon drums and float it in front of my boathouse.

First off, glad to play Texas early in the season but the last game should be LSU from now on for several reasons. If nothing else I could see Texas saying they wanted to play us TDay and then canceling the contract after a few years if we start beating them like we did in the 80's and '90s. There are also multiple advantages for A&M to play that game early from minimizing the impact of a potential loss to balancing the schedule better with "bookend" rivalry games. I also must admit it will make me laugh every year as we play LSU and they play TCU or Tech and try to act as though it is a game that matters.
As for TDay as the actual game date with LSU I don't really care anymore. I prefer Saturday to Friday but whatever. The NFL is taking over TDay night anyway so it won't be as special as it once was, the only exception would be if the game is on CBS directly following the Cowboys game, that would be kind of cool. Seems like the LSU folks don't like TDay games though so whatever. I just want LSU as the last regular season game.
It was absolutely a rivalry game when I was in school in the late '80s/early '90s and you could feel it coming back this past year in CS. So many ties between the schools.

I'd be in favor of that, as long as you provide pictures. I may be blowing smoke but I really think this rivalry has great potential - like Michigan/Ohio State great, for example. I'll be dead before it reaches that status but that's OK. All the ingredients are there. The only question for me is whether A&M can keep it up. I'm looking forward to finding out the answer over the next 5-10 years.
Oh, and BTHO LSU.

I don't think we're supposed to say that out loud

What? This was a big rivalry in the 80's and early 90's.
ETA: that sign is awesome
