that "malicious intent is definable with targeting fouls." Huh? 5 minute reviews will become 20 minute reviews, this is getting ridiculous.

Terrible idea. Way too much common sense involved

How'd that go with facemasking? Eventually gave up differentiating the 2 types.

Anytime someone lowers a helmet is malicious intent the dumbass skalski can’t help himself and repeatedly does it

I support the Targeting 0 rule.

Go back to spearing. 15 yds and a personal foul. If combined with another personal foul before or later in the game, ejection.

What Skalski did should not be an ejection, but the 15 yards seems ok.

What Battle did in the NC game was dangerous, and it probably warrants being the ejection type.

They really need to go to the NFL model, and just assess a penalty and move on. Maybe a second foul should be an ejection??

There is a difference between malicious intent and dirty. They have taken the helmet out of tackling, but you can lower your head and run over someone with the ball. It's the dumbest fricking thing ever. You can't make football safe. It wasn't intended that way and the players will take care of dirty play themselves. If someone wants to catch a pass over the middle and gets a helmet in the ribs, that is football.

While I get the reasoning for wanting two rules, I also agree that reviews will take even longer and it will often be hard to judge malicious intent.

I support giving the refs a little latitude on whether the player was just going in for a lower hit and the offensive player lowered his head into the blow. Shouldn't DC the hitter when no intention on a bang-bang play occurs. Keep the 15 yard penalty and let them play on with a warning.

at least the poor guy isn't hauled out of the stadium anymore like some drunk who ran on the field.

Maybe if Bama would quit targeting we wouldn’t have this problem.

FWIW, he's been suggesting this model for two years and nothing has come of it.

So is Jack Tatum coming over the middle and breaking Dereck Stingley Junior's grandfather's neck in 2 places. Daryl Stingley was in a wheelchair for the rest of his short life. Teammates and opponents affectionately called Tatum the "assassin." Tatum wrote 3 best-selling books entitled "They Call Me Assassin" and followed up with the spellbinding, "They Still Call Me Assassin." And finally, " Final Confessions Of NFL Assassin Jack Tatum."

Tatum and Stingley are long dead now, but both Jack Tatum and the NFL knew exactly what puts butts in seats. By the way, Jack Tatum never felt the need to apologize to Daryl for making him a paraplegic even after many years. It's not what "Assassins" do.

It's very simple. The first targeting foul against a player in a game is a 15-yard penalty. If it happens again...he's ejected. Let's not over complicate this.

I dont like players being ejected when in most cases they did it by accident.

Make it a 15 yard penalty that's not reviewed and only eject on the second time the player is called for it.

That wasn't even a violent hit if you care to go back and look at it. It was a freak accident. Just like Dale Earnhardt's crash that caused his death.

Rather than the second targeting penalty in a game cause an ejection, I think you might want to do it sort of like soccer leagues, where if one accumulates a certain number of yellow cards, they get a suspension. Have it be a 15 yard penalty, and, if you get a 2nd one in the course of a season, you get an ejection.

I was watching it live. Tatum was the face of vicious headhunting in his day and up to just a few seasons ago, even college football.

A few years ago, college players were refusing to buckle up their chinstraps because they liked the look of hitting opponents and watching helmets go flying. Even their own.

That's why players have to go out for a play now.

But your Nascar reference with death and destruction for fan consumption is actually on point. Just give the inmates the keys to the asylum. They will never disappoint.

Or we can just play bubble football. I am sure you would prefer football helmets on boxers so they couldn't hurt each other.

And since you brought up death, the people who are dying in football are dropping dead because of cardiovascular conditions, not because of hits. We are turning into fat pussies.
