While SC would be a likely third option for UGA, UGA/UT has much more history to it.

that's simply not true. It would undoubtedly be South Carolina. We've played them 70something times going back to 1894, whereas we've barely played UT 50 times and not regularly at all until the late 80s.

In adiditon to all that...we're SC's 2nd biggest rival overall and by FAR their #1 SEC rival. If they weren't our 3rd team, who the frick would be their 3 teams?

Fill in the blanks for the entire league. May not be as easy as everyone claims.

This was pretty easy before adding TX & OK

But here you go:

AL - AU, TN, MS St
AR - MO, LSU, aTm
AU - AL, GA, FL
FL - GA, AU, SC
GA - AU, SC, FL
KY - TN, MS St, Vandy
LSU - MS, aTm, AR
MS - LSU, Vandy, MS St
MS St - MS, AL, KY
MO - AR, TX, OK
OK - TX, SC, MO
SC - GA, FL, OK
TN - AL, KY, Vandy
TX - aTm, OK, MO
aTm - TX, LSU, AR
Vandy - TN, KY, MS

If we do Pods, every school will get to pick at least one rival as a “must keep” game

we (UGA) would be SC’s 1st choice

whether we do pods or divisions or some other format, the UGA vs SC is here to stay

I do hate losing the annual game vs. USC. Good fans that are a lot of fun to be around.

I think Arkansas is the 3rd team for LSU

I think Arkansas will get 3 of Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Oklahoma if I had to guess

I wouldn't mind the Gumps,Jawja, and Vandy. Personally LSU is always one of my favorite games to go to but with the top two teams being our biggest rivalry we could use a Vandy game every season. Hopefully Auburn will he good again before I die. HOPEFULLY!

LSU won't be getting Bama no matter divisions, pods.
Bama will have Aubie, Tenn and mayyyyybe UGA. There is more serious talk about Ms State. I would like UGA but folks I've talked to say its gonna be state

Which of the 3 teams I selected for Tenn would they drop? Is Tenn Vandy really that big of a deal?

They aren't gonna bust up an instate, conference rivalry week game. No matter how you look at the programs its not gonna happen. UT will get Bama, UK and Vandy. However its done, pods or divisions, its gonna be a true east and west with MS being the dividing line.

To answer your original question the UT-Vandy game is a bigger deal than most think.

why the hell would it be uga? We have practically zero history with alabama and it's only been a "thing" for the last 5 seasons.

If I recall MSU is alabama's oldest rival/opponent, and the schools are only like an hour apart. It's practically a lock bama's 3 would be AU/UT/MSu, IMO.

no matter what people say about Auburn, y’all deserve major props for the way you have scheduled games for your whole history

Your biggest rivals were always Bama, UGA, Tennessee and GA Tech, arguably the strongest teams in the conference in the early days

The only “weak” rivals y’all had were Florida and FSU, weak teams back in the day, but power houses more recently

your folks are correct

no way you get GA unless we keep divisions and y’all move East

Bama vs UGA used to be an annual thing, but we were always their least important rival

Their biggest rivals in the early days were Tennessee, GA Tech, Auburn and MS State and then UGA, and in that order

Don’t believe me?

Then why is sending Yellow Jackets to a watery grave in their fight song?

eta - MS State is 90 miles from Bama, so more like 2 hours, but easily their closest rival
