Millions of dollars can change one’s idea of “perfectly fine”.

Okay
“Texas A&M fan doesn’t like Baton Rouge...news at 11”
Such a dumb and lazy take, I’m more offended as a troll than I am an LSU fan. Step your game up.

I don’t even like Baton Rouge that much but it’s a perfectly fine place to live, especially if you’re affiliated with LSU.
Baton rouge is a dump and Lousiana is literally the worst state in the country by almost every metric. How many shootings have you had on or a few streets away from campus in the last month?

I'm not an expert on BR. I know it sure doesn't rate very well on places to live, and there are many reasons for that. The crime is terrible, the town is old and terribly moldy, and the bay reminds me of Galveston. Haven't enjoyed my business trips there.
Not a fan. Still, not much of a fan of ANY of the towns in LA to be fair.

I live in Texas for almost 3 years and can say the same for your state, so I guess we’re both content

Prove it. Name em. Which places have you sent time in and didn’t like.

Here are two objective takes.
Texas is one of the best states in the country.
Louisiana is quite literally the worst state in the country.
Here's a subjective take that's probably more fact than opinion.
Lousiana has more in common with Haiti than it does any state in the Top 40 of the U.S

In fairness, there are a lot of shitholes in Texas. Houston is a concrete jungle with a Mexican restaurant on every corner. Last time I went to Dallas, downtown was deserted with a vacancy sign on every building. San Antonio is like a mini-Houston.
Austin is fun but the far-left libs seem to be taking over.

Schloss is the most likely candidate for A&M. He's going through a life transition (divorce), home is for sale, and wants a change of scenery. I'm not sure how I feel about that but ...
So the Jimbo?

There are areas in/around Baton Rouge where a man making over a million bucks a year would be very comfortable, his kids could go to nice schools, his wife would have access to lots of boutiques, etc.
It's not like these coaches are going to live north of campus.

Not a fan of the Texas culture or attitude, I don’t like Dallas or Houston (though gun to my head I’d take Houston). I liked the 8th wonder brewery when I went though.
Austin was cool for awhile but becoming Dallasified by the day. Went back in 2019 and it had totally lost it soul.
I liked San Antonio, the people were much less pretentious and the vibe was much chiller.
Ft Worth is okay but North Texas generally is such a bland keeping up with the Jones’ culture. Couldn’t pay me any amount of money to live there.
Obviously West Texas is rough, doubting even y’all will defend it.
Louisiana is flawed but the food and the people are wonderful.

You’re talking to people who have probably only been to BR for a football game or maybe one or two other times briefly.
It’s an awesome place to go to college
It’s a nice place to raise a family
It’s a shitty place to be a single young professional
The crime and poverty is a problem but, for better or worse, contained to north BR.

Here’s the thing. Life in LA for a poor person blows. Life in LA for people with money is pretty easy and by all accounts all coaches who have come through here have been extremely happy to be here.
Anyone coaching LSU baseball will have it made here. Citing education rankings for LA’s public schools is irrelevant to a high income earner in this state.
