Also, it doesn’t water down the regular season, it does the opposite. If you lose a game or two a team still has incentive to play since they have a chance.

Ummm, losing two, or even three, games and still making the playoffs is pretty much the definition of the season being watered down.

Make players lose a year of eligibility for transferring.

Makes perfectly good sense and would provide some order to this
madness but all conferences would have to agree to it. That's
not going to happen and some dickhead would bring a suit anyway
to respect his right to transfer , better know as taking the money
and running to a bigger $--pile somewhere else.

It's complete bs they jumped all the way from 4 to 12. 6 was the perfect step up if you were dead set on expansion

I agree that the playoffs will work and eventually be better. They just screwed up the format. There should be auto bids, but not conf champ auto byes. Just rank the teams. This year was also made bad because they kept moving BSU up the rankings, while nit beating anyone., they should have been the 12 seed. Also, Tennessee played really bad and were embarrassed. Indiana just isn’t a good team complete fraud.

SMU was really affected by the wind, as was PSU; but PSU is built more on the run. The kicking game was nullified by the wind. The field was cut into a 20 yd box because no one could take shots, that really affected SMU more. It is what it is, weather happens; but I really feel it would have been a close game without the swirling wind.

Clemson- Texas was a good game, Clemson had its chances. Pick 6 taken off the board, Clemson belonged, they just lost the breaks of the game. It was a really good game though.

I believe that the first round and even qtr finals would and will always gave blowouts.. however, the expanded playoffs should eliminate those blowouts that we’ve seen in the semi finals and championships before.

The Final 4 will be incredible and All will belong there.

Let's get down to What and Why this 12 team playoff came to be: $$$MONEY$$$ !
We have gone from the media,AP,picking ,declaring, the National Champion to the BCS to 4 and now a 12 team playoff championship.
It's the ESPN,SECN,ABC,NBC,CBS,TNT,TBS,MAX, and probably some I missed that drive this billionaire industry...; for some of the same reasons the NFL has gone from a 14 game schedule to 16 and a playoff schedule where if you are a wild card champion you have played another 5 games.

Thanks to the almighty dollar Not invading college baseball I look forward to spring and the crack of the bat. Here at LSU we can thank Skip and now Jay for a championship caliber team almost every year.

It is going to be changed to 14 or 16, not reduced to 6. It’s already in the works.

Old-school fans can rant on message boards until they turn people but no one is listening to us.

The bottom line is the bottom line. It’s all about money. And they are counting on every old-school fan who stops watching being replaced by younger, fresher eyes.

Honestly, if you aren’t 18 to 49, they really don’t care if you watch anyway.

Although the turd in the punch bowl there is it ain’t gonna be 18 to 49’s filling those NIL coffers.

This is so dumb, you guys would rather have fewer playoffs games and more bowl games that don’t matter?

Which one of the playoff games yesterday mattered. Which one did you DVR to watch again?

This is one year. How do you know every year all the 1st games will be blowouts. That’s conjecture on your part as well no ? I think PSU OSU and possibly ND and Clemson have shown enough to belong and can compete IMO . I haven’t seen enough of Boise and ASU . Let’s see what happens w them next round

The fact that you didn’t understand the point wasn’t Cowherd, it was score of that national championship game further proves my point.

You think a blowout in the national championship is indicative of the 4 team playoff being worse than the shite we watched the last 24 hours and proves your point? You’re a fricking retard man. Plain and simple haha

There’s no point arguing with someone who is actually happy about watching that watered down shite. And using 1 example from a year where 2 of the 3 games were arguably the best of all time in the playoffs, further substantiates you’re a dipshit. It’s not about eliminating blowouts, they’re going to happen some teams are really good (wow what a concept) it’s about watching absolute horseshite football and calling it a “playoff” for the sake of money. Keep eating the shite out of the trough and thanking your masters for it you slave lol

4 was best, and 8 would be better than 12, but we'll get 16 because the fact is that the expanded playoff has created a lot of interest, and when it's all added up, more money. If anybody thinks money isn't always the most important factor, then they are very naive.

There ain't no going backwards, not ever.

Once the money flows they don't turn off the tap.

Think of the first round playoff games as an excuse for more bowl games.

Mismatch? So what? It's giving us what we want . . . football.

12 is the right answer so long as they allow the 5 champs in. This gives 7 slots to make it in. Knowing some teams with lesser SOS will get in, you still have 4 or 5 slots if you are not a conference champ. Win and be in. Yesterday was as it should have been. Good record teams with weak SOS were weeded out. Now we have an 8 team playoff with worthy teams. If you are in a major conference either win the conference or be one of the top teams in the nation. Stop worrying about slots below 8. You need to make the top eight.

If it were a 6 team playoff, Ohio State might not even be in it and they might win the damn thing
And I'd be fine with that since they lost to a 7-5 Michigan in addition to losing to Oregon.

The regular season should mean something.

I never said a 4 team playoff is worse. Both have blowouts. In fact even last years national championship was a blowout. Quit crying because there are a few more games, if it bothers you so much, don’t watch.

… then don’t watch

Nobody has a gun to your head, forcing you to watch. You made a thread complaining about something you have no control over and can easily avoid…. You’re a loser.

For those saying it wouldn't demean the regular season let me ask you this

How many college basketball games do you watch or do you really just tune in for March Madness?

Exactly

Nobody has a gun to your head telling you to follow me around the board but here we are, yet again.

It’s a sports board you can put your opinion out there, you’re dedicating time out of your day to tell me my opinion is … an opinion. Uh thanks bro, go take out my trash now and I’ll be done giving your wife the only satisfaction she’s had in years while you’re trimming my hedges.
