Thursday night game.
After the holidays are over and kids are back in school.
Both teams playing their 3rd Playoff game of the season.
Both teams having to travel over 1,500 miles.
One team is a relatively small private school.
One team hails from the poorest state in America.
Both teams’ fans saving up to hopefully attend the Championship Game if they win.

If there was ever a recipe for horrific semifinal attendance, THIS IS IT.

OM is traveling. Est 30k+ fans out there. Standard Capacity is 63k. Will be over 40K in Miami after the win.

Miami doesn’t really travel well.

Hardly travel to their own home games. I was in Miami in Oct-Nov and got a Syracuse lower bowl ticket for $15. $7-8 if you wanted upper deck.

People in Mississippi don’t truly grasp the lifestyle of those living in Miami.

Let's be real here: Notre Dame, SMU, TCU, BYU, and maybe even Duke would have traveled better than Miami.

It’s a vacation spot, a cruise terminal, and Latin America.

All of this. Ole Miss fans went to NOLA for the holidays and now are saving up for the championship game

this setup makes it really hard on fans, especially students, to follow an entire playoff run. Imagine if either of these teams had to play in the conference championship game, too

Well that and the typical Miami "fan" doesn't actually go to games.
