As said above, with the trend to move to streaming TV, etc., it’s going to be about viewers, period. Who will watch from anywhere?

Personally, I hate to see it go this way, but, Sankey has proven he’s thinking on a much bigger scale. If these conferences are not willing to change, they’re going to get left behind. Form a new league and forget them.

Maybe, but does staying there help them?

Why should I care if it helps them?

They can all get bent.

Notre Dame.......SEC???

I didn't read and I've never listened to/watched Finebaum much at all. He appears to be the Jerry Springer of sports. The short times I did hear him he sounds like he has very limited knowledge of football and the ins and outs of the sport. He's, at best, a casual observer with a mic.

It's barely the SouthEASTern Conference with Texas and Texas A&M. Throw in Notre Dame and definitely would have to change the name.

While true, I would say keep the name to jab a thumb into ND's eye.

I wouldn't take Finebaum conjecture as a news story. This is an article only about what a person said about some other people. This is called tabloid. It used to be considered tacky and bad form but now it's part of everyday life in America.

This is the bigger issue when people bring up Clemson. TX is so big and their two fan bases so large that having both Texas and A&M makes fiscal sense.

Clemson is the smaller school that has fewer fans and has less money - even with all their success - in a state that isn't that large to begin with.

Basically, if we brought them in tomorrow each school would lose money by having to split it 15 ways. That's not the case with the Texas-Oklahoma combo.

Playoff expansion is coming after 2025. At that point, it doesn't require a unanimous vote to expand. The PAC has already said it's good with any playoff expansion. The SEC, Big 12, Notre Dame, and the G5 all want 12 teams.

That just leaves the B1G and the ACC on an island. They won't stay on that island very long.

It’s all about footprint. These teams do not make sense other than ND. If you are going outside the southeast footprint, go get Ohio State, Michigan and ND.

That makes sense financially, not Clemson and FSU.

So to sum it up. He theorized that great teams are getting sick of their conferences & the lack of opportunities THEN 2 of the 3 schools he recommends (ND & Clemson) have gotten to the playoffs BECAUSE of their present easier road.

That makes no sense.

For the record, I’ve worked with Notre Dame alumni my whole life. They are the most arrogant fanbase I’ve ever met. There is not .1% of them that think they need anything. They ALL believe that college football needs them.

No they are not, but they have been a member for several decades and, more importantly, at least they've made it to the SECCG more than once unlike 8 & 4feit who has been there ZERO times.

Once Texas and OU become members Texas 8 & 4 will be absolutely worthless and should go back to the big 12. Hell, they should go back any way and those other 2 should stay there too.

Replace Aggies, Arky Mizzou and Gamechickens with BOBODY. Go back to original 10. Thank you and good day.
