It was a more glamorous job before integration.

They took advantage of segregation and got the best players from the south regardless of skin color.

After integration, other programs in the south began to get those players that Notre Dame would get. While this didn't hurt all that much at first, they just weren't the dominant program of past decades as the years went on.

Going to have to dispute this. Notre Dame did NOT recruit southern Blacks during the period the SEC was segregated. They had very few Blacks on their team through those years and the ones they had were not southern. Notre Dame didn't really recruit the south until the 1970s which was the time the SEC opened up.

The team the DID recruit southern Blacks in that period was Michigan State. A good half of their starting team in the mid '60s were Black players from the south.

It obviously eats at you that LSU is a better program historically than Georgia.

Texas is so attractive that they got Bama’s OC who’s never really done much as a head coach. Really reeled in a big fish.

What would an Aggie know about natties? Ooops! I guess y’all do know! My apologies. That meat judging national title was truly amazing. When’s the parade and when can we look for the coffee table book to come out?

Fsu resides in probably the most talent rich football state in which they're third in line for branding at worst, Tennessee shares thier state with vandy and is the undisputed top brand of said state, auburn is the second biggest brand in Alabama. Basically Alabama is why tenn and fsu are better jobs

You get that from me pointing out that LSU only has two top 10 finishes in the last 11 seasons?
Same as Auburn.
Same as A&M.

I'll pass your message along to management.

FSU > Auburn

Auburn pussed out once we started to be good in the late ‘80s

We beat Auburn in the natty

Hell, we just beat Auburn for a 5* last weekend

Great, Auburn can recruit that state that is two hours away also.

FSU is in a soon to be minor league right now, their boosters are cheap/poor, and their fans are fair weather. They had a great 90s, but going forward it’s not a better job until they resolve the conference issue (in a way that doesn’t also financially hamstring them).

Tennessee doesn’t produce a lot of talent and has to recruit Georgia and Carolina successfully to be good. I’m fine if someone thinks UT is a better job than Auburn, they are a bigger brand, have more historical success and play in the SEC with deep pocketed boosters. However, their recruiting geography is worse than Auburn, and the reality is they haven’t accomplished appreciably more than Auburn over the past 4 decades. (Tennessee is also heavily impacted by Alabama’s success, see the last 15 years where UT has been an unmitigated disaster for the most part).

The team that declined an SEC invite around that time explicitly to play an easier schedule accusing Auburn of “pussing out”? GMAFB.

Your other points are winning one game and one recruiting battle-that’s great, congrats to you guys. Enjoy your minor league conference - you guys are effectively the bitch of Louisville, Wake Forest, Syracuse and Boston College now - they will never let you out of your grant of rights.

Of all SEC teams, only Alabama and Georgia have won more games than A&M since we joined the league. Those are also the only three SEC teams in that timeframe with multiple top 5 finishes in the final AP poll.

Whatever, this only because LSU decided to vacate wins during that time period.

I love LSU and they may be 4th but Ohio State is the better job, you have a direct line into the playoff and your pick.

Also, Georgia is not number 1, history has to matter, and Kirby has made Georgia, Georgia didnt make this version of Bulldog football

Hell, LSU has Miles AND O win championships....they go .500 at Georgia or Texas,

Maybe old history matters less than the other factors in a discussion like this.

Texas A&m will pay a coach over 100mil to average 8-4 so I think that's the best job in college football.
