Luke is a freaking idiot. I understand what he's getting at and basically shows he's afraid of Cal and isn't confident in our team. Him lobbying for an 11am kickoff is straight up alienating the students and fanbase.

Why in the hell would you do that?

"We are going to catch them off guard. Make them play REALLY early. Just the advantage we'll need."

More importantly, why didn't they AD say nah... we'll go at 6:00 like any normal team would want to do.

I mean they are literally complaining that students aren't in the stands and leave early because it's too hot so you schedule the game at 11am. This season is just snowballing. They can't make a good decision to save their lives. Is Keith Carter content with not having the AD job full time that he is just coasting now??

That is not how it works bro. TV agreements determine the game time now.

Yes tv does schedule it. but if the coach and administrative are actively lobbying for an 11am game then I'd say the tv network would be more willing to put that game at 11am before deciding on any other game. 11am is the worst time slot that no one wants to play in. So if a team says "we'll take it" before any scheduling starts then that's one less game the network has to worry about slotting.

Is this you’re first season watching college football. You realize that the program has absolutely no say in game time.

11 o’clock is a product of our shite play and being low on the pecking order when tv chooses what games they want in what slots.

It may be what they want but TV overrides. As for the 11am start time. It makes sense to play at that time especially in the Mississippi heat. Why not use the time and heat to your advantage? This is why west coast teams play against east teams starting at 9pm Pacific. It's an advantage. I'm sorry that it will be hot but we do live in the deep south and for as long as I can remember, it's been hot this time of year. Man-up a little bit.

I'll be in that stadium. It's crap but I'll be there. I'm more pissed off that it takes away from the pregame tailgating atmosphere. I'm bringing friends up for that game and instead of getting a whole day of groving we just get a couple of hours at best to a half empty grove.

Only positive is getting to the square after the game before cover charges at the bars go into effect.

I’ll take 11 over anything but 6:30 this time of year.

Dude. One of the best times in the Grove is after an early win. Just chill and party. No point in going to the Square until 10pm anyway.

Yes, TV does determine it, but with one zillion ESPNs on which to stick games these days, perhaps there's some wiggle room in some circumstances. I don't know; I'm only relating what I heard on SportsTalk Mississippi while I was driving home. They were saying that there was an option between an early or night game, and the university opted for the 11 a.m. game rather than an evening game .

Now they may all very well have their heads up their arse, but I can't imagine that game scheduling is super cloak and dagger, especially for one of the main sports talk shows covering the state.

I still am baffled that this idiot Luke is our head coach.

He hasn't gotten a clue about anything.

Well if this mentality does somehow shock Cal into not being prepared due to early timing... I'm down. I don't want to lose to that school again, considering we shouldn't have lost the first time

Would you rather win in front of 40k, or lose in front of 45k?

I'm not defending Matt Luke but he nor Keith Carter had any influence on the TV decision. Executives sitting in suites that don't get two iotas about Ole Miss put us at 11:00.

But in this case, it works in our favor. You always want to play a west coast team as early as possible. It will be 11am for us but 9am to them. This is why they play eastern teams at 9pm because it is 11pm or midnight for the eastern team.

Boise State just FSU on the road at 11 am 2 weeks ago, it really isn't that big of an advantage
