So sources say this is the current "party deck" in the Vaught for the home opener. Looks like they are a little behind on their work and short on promises.

Are those really gonna offer that much shade?

Haven't you heard? The party decks failed inspection so they can't build them.

I saw no for these reasons:

1) They are too high to offer any shade from anything other than the sun being directly above the student section

2) The sun is never directly above the student section during a game. The sun sets in the southwest corner of the stadium, so once 12pm happens, the sun is always shining in the face of the student section.

3) You will not be fitting 2,400 students under those tents and the only people that will get shade are the ones standing on the top row.

4) It actually will provide shade.....for the students who stay in the Grove under the oaks because this was a bullshite attempt by the school and won't increase the student attendance.

They didn't fail inspections. They realized they were going to have to half-arse project which raised concerns about them being safe and therefore scrapped the idea.

Basically this whole party deck situation is a perfect metaphor for the Luke hire.

They should have just installed big arse soccer stadium style sun shades over that side

Instead we will (again) be the laughing stock of the SEC for our stupid stadium ideas.

Over-promising and under-delivering is not a great way to help the situation with an already pissed off fanbase.

Can't do that either. In the event of a big televised game they wouldn't be able to suspend the skycam from the corners of the stadium and get close to that endzone.

Maybe the athletic department should have looked into this before announcing it to the public

My thoughts exactly. They were too concerned about creating a good image with the students that they didn't spend the time to actually plan it out. This is something that needs to be started back in May, not a month before the home opener.

Why can't they do something real like spraying the underside with ceramic coating to insulate and paint the top with non-reflective paint. This would eliminate the heat factor by a million degrees.

I still don't understand why they decided to make the whole endzone aluminum in the first place. Isn't the ultimate goal to have an upper deck go all the way around or at least mirror the south endzone? The entire stadium is concrete except the addition.

It's a head scratcher for sure. They should have done it right or not done it at all. Now we are saddled with that piece of crap addition, that once again doesn't match the rest of the stadium and which, due to placement, is like sitting in a hot frying pan.

My wish list would include ripping out the new box seats at the top of the SEZ under the box, restore the walkway and make it go all the way around the stadium. Tear out the NEZ and make it match the SEZ.

Then, let's bring in the press box and Billups club into a similar design that brings the stadium together. What we have is 4 completely different looking stadiums meshed into one. It would be nice if someone had longterm vision.

Or we could just shutter the football program, tear down the stadium and make the old location of VHS a new party and social field for students to never ever lose the party.

So take this image of the stadium and look at the shadow over the south endzone. I'm guessing this is roughly noon. Please tell me how those tall arse tents are going to provide any shade for the student section when the sun is shining in their faces.

I’m not saying each of you is completely wrong, but some of you might as well start rooting for another school. You are down right toxic the vast majority of the time regardless of sport or the school in general.

Sorry if I am upset that the administration is consistently under performing at my alma mater. Sorry if I have an issue with consistently being the laughing stock of the SEC. Sorry that I have an issue with graduated from Ole Miss as a Rebel only to know that within the next decade those names will be a mere memory in Oxford, MS. And lastly, sorry, as a former athlete, I expect more from our coaches than the excuses they have given for losing. I know the players work hard as I have been there. But I also know that there is a difference between the players sucking and the coaches not being able to develop a player and adjust gameplans be able to compete. We are in the SEC. We have had top 25 recruiting classes the last few years but can't seem to get these players to the level of competition to put us as a contender. Yes we were dealt hardships with the sanctions but I've seen schools do more with less.

Maybe the back row at the most. This is beyond moronic.
