Do we have tNetwork in place to start basketball recruiting? IDK how we’re going to get anyone if we don’t start buying basketball players like the rest of the league.

So either Vitter helps make the hire or we entrust the person who hired Matt Luke to make the hire

We're so fricked

We were screwed in football. If there weren’t sanctions we make a better hire.

Welcome To the Rick Ray years!

We are letting the guys who settled for Matt Luke hire a new basketball coach. We are about to hire a coach with the biggest FBI probe in college history staring coaches in the face.

This program is dead.

I don't want to believe this, but my head tells me this makes too much sense. This is going to suck.

There are a lot of good basketball coaches out there, many of which would consider the SEC, the Pavilion and OM money a considerable upgrade. Our leadership just has to do their job and find just one.

Like I've said before, we need to enlarge our network if we want to be successful; but if doing so means taking away resources from football or baseball though then I'm out. Football and baseball I think are the sports that most of our fans would rather be successful if given a choice.

The pavilion needs to be redone. There are too many premium seats. They are always empty

I’m genuinely going to miss AK, and I doubt anyone we hire would be that much of an improvement, but I do think it’d be good to hire an established coach in lieu of a hot assistant or an up-and-comer from a mid-major or lower. Obviously there’s probably less than a 1% chance it’d happen, but Billy Donovan has been largely unsuccessful at the Thunder, and he’d be an A+ hire if he were to move on from OKC. I also think Tom Crean would run a clean enough program that could compete in the new look SEC. Everyone else stepped their game up across the board. We spent a ton of money on facilities, in large part because of AK, but we haven’t spent elsewhere in the program. We need to nail this new hire, or it may be until around 2023 before the Pavilion is rocking again

I hope AK gets into broadcasting. He’d be fantastic at it. Or he goes to coach his alma mater. This sucks though. RIP Basketbearsharks

They need to move the premium seats from right behind the benches if nothing else. No one ever sits there. It looks embarrassing on tv. I wish we’d convert it to more student seating since the student section is the only reliably full part of the arena, and then the court would be surrounded by screaming (likely drunk) kids. Surroundings the court with our a-hole students would be a betterment competitive advantage, and we’d look so much better on tv

Anyone watching this press conference? AK is stand up guy. He siad nothing but good things about Ole Miss, the State, and program. I appreciate everything he did here. I'll miss his personality, but I'm excited and ready for a new regime. Props to AK for bing all class about it.

Considering Ole Miss has never been a basketball school, AK did about as well
as he could. Does anyone really think Vitter has the chops to make a big hire ?
Probably made more sense to stick with AK for the next 3 years until the football
program was rebuilt but now we are rebuilding two programs.

Sure he did because he is not a good coach.

We are just hiring a new coach. The facilities are already there. The rest will come w/ a quality hire.
