my game notes: Overall performance A+ (doesn't matter who we play; you play who is on the schedule). Totally focused effort by all; players and coaches (heck, even the band) for a full 60 minutes.
Key takeaways:
1. J Dart - can't do it any better; picture perfect. Would have thrown for 700 yards full game
2. J Wells - great to see his first TD. Looked good and hoping he stays healthy all year (still trying to understand why Furman #5 gave up and did not leg tackle Wells)
3. JJ - excellent performance, both O and D (nice ball shift from hand to hand on the TD run); he really thinks he is a running back
4. Walter and Princely - just dominating, of course no surprise. Those two can be scary good this year
5. Amos - super talented, underrated (so far) all SEC DB in waiting
6. TE's - is there a better TE combo in CFB? I really hope Lane/Charlie overweight this dual combo all year; or really hit it when the situation arises
7. Chris Paul - total quality in limited minutes; Super fast, tenacious. Looked like he was out to destroy some people,
8. T Harris - nothing to add here - best WR in America (I think he got concussed when he hit the back of his head in the end zone)
9. OL - really good output, a lot of mix/match to make this all work but really good look early on
10. Team Game Ball - to all for FOCUS. Really easy to take this one lightly and/or relax in 2H; I saw nobody take their foot off the accelerator, and that speaks well for the entire coaching staff and players; take nothing for granted.
Positive surprises: Matt Jones looked really good, but small sample size. I really liked the C Hardie pick-up at the time and he looked good; covers a lot of turf quickly and a TFL specialist. I did not expect to see Princely until Kentucky but he looked top notch; just hope the shoulder holds up. Not really a surprise but Perkins speed is unbelievable, as seen taking down the QB; looked like Lawrence Taylor there for a minute; L Moore seemed to have a nice game; really nice contributions from the Freshman (Kam, Noreel, William) and from C Lee and A Williams.
The SMALL things matter: Check out the blocks by Tre and C Lee in the end zone on Dart's TD run. They both took out their defenders and Tre locked up his guy for a good 5 seconds, giving Dart a nice clean runway for the TD. That is how you win big games w/execution and team ball
Final thoughts; 1) thinking about JWAT and hope he is OK; he is needed; 2) This squad is immensely talented and after watching some of our SEC brothers this weekend (except GA), the future looks super bright.
That's all I got; I know I missed some positives as there were too many to mention. 15 more to go, LFG!

Regarding Juice Wells - this gives the DC another headache where they can't just focus on Harris. I think both will end up with 1,000+ yards this season as a result.

It’s becoming commonplace on Championship teams. SEC offenses have changed so much in a short amount of time due to HUNH. There was one 1,000+ yard WR in the conference in 2009. Shay Hodge. AJ Green finished with less than 900 that season. In 2012, Landry and OBJ became the first 1000 yard duo on the same team. By 2019 you had both LSU and Bama having 1000 yard WRs in the same season. The Tide did it agin in 2021 and LSU again last season. If you can name all the receivers without Googling or cheating I’d be impressed. I think DMagic probably can.

I think I’m glad we didn’t hire Norvell.

I don’t think Norvell is a bad coach. I do think not getting in the playoff and then getting mauled by UGA destroyed his and the program’s psyche.

I detest Florida State.

Anyone know what the deal with Caleb Warren is? I know he’s banged up but we had him listed as a guard on the Depth Chart for Furman. Does the staff honestly think McCantyre or Scott are better options at the position?

Scott is our starting Center.
Warren is out with a meniscus injury otherwise he’s our back up center.

I agree. He's a great coach actually. His players bailed on him after the snub. His QB blows arse and there's not much you can do if that's the case.

Gotta admit. The shot of Nolen with a grill on in the middle of the game is more irritating than I thought it would be

Don’t tell MetalReb that
Too late, he’s already told me…I’m thinking that way strictly in terms of what I think the 2 programs can do on a consistent basis. Obviously I hope Kiffin stays here for another 10 years. This is fun.
