This is me.

I've bought season tickets either for myself or family members the last 11 seasons. I will not spend one more penny on this program.

I will gladly eat my crow if I'm proven wrong but unless Luke wins the west, I won't support him.

Do what? What kind of sense does this make?

So if he does something no other Ole Miss coach has done you’ll support him. Glad you’re being reasonable. GTFO with this shite. Go be an SMU fan since you’re so convinced chad Morris is the answer.

Seriously. I'm not thrilled with the hire, but given the circumstances did we really expect anything different. A good number of teams in the SEC are looking for a new head coach right now. Nobody could have anticipated that when Hugh Freeze resigned. Plus the NCAA still looms over our program.

I'm not done, but I am very much disappointed. Though in saying that I don't think there really is a coach out there that we could have got that would have been that much better. What I believe we need is a sacrificial lamb to put out there for a couple years then when we can ... move on. So why not be someone that loves Ole Miss and will willingly fall on the sword for us. Also an Ole Miss guy gets paid to suck and not anyone else (take care of our own).

The only other option is we need to hire someone like Charlie Strong, Frank Wilson, Willie Taggart, etc. to be our olive branch to the NCAA.

This times ten. This is par for the course and to have thought otherwise is just foolish. WAOM.

No shite.

Ole Miss, in my lifetime, has been historically fair to middling. We have up years, down years and so-so years. Should we strive for more? Hell yes. But we apparently flew too close to the sun these last few seasons, and have fallen hard. We are going to have to build from the bottom up, again (and hopefully the right way this time).

I'm fine with putting Luke in for the time being. We probably know sanctions are going to kick our arse. We might as well save some $$$, retain some good players, ride out sanctions, give Luke a chance, and have a better shot at better coaches in the next couple of years if Luke doesn't work out. Luke, for his part, will either sink or swim. besides that, no coach worth his salt is going to come here with sanctions looming.

Regardless of sanctions, coaches that are worth a damn understand that there is a 3-4 year window to become a winner, and if that doesn't happen, they are gone. Only a coach with very little gray matter would step into Ole Miss right now. That's not a coach I want.

Beyond all of this, who's to say we didn't gauge interest with several coaches who all said "no thanks" for the above reasons? I figure that's probably what happened, and instead of looking like LSU a year ago, we just look like we are keeping our guy for now without the embarrassment of being shunned nationally.

So, suck it up, boys. It's going to be a long few years, again, but we will be back.

Ross told the players last night he does not know the sanctions. If that is true, why the hell did we hire a guy so fast that will take the job 3 weeks from now? Why not wait till the sanctions come out? What if the self imposed is accepted with a few additional scholarships? That isn't running coaches off if the only bowl ban was this year.

Luke isn't the problem. The way Luke was hired is!!!

Agreed. There is some serious incompetence in the administration. Not to mention contract negotiation seems to be handled by the most charitable soul in the world.

Certainly more brilliant than thinking Matt Luke was the right hire

I can't comprehend why they would have done this without knowing some of the penalties

Done? Nah. We may have to put up with the worst SEC football coach for a couple of years, but in the meantime we have the best SEC basketball coach to watch.

Not if Jeff Vitter has anything to do with it.
