My prediction is 6-6. I think we will lose one of the first four to either Memphis, Arkansas, or Cal. I believe our ceiling is 7-5 and floor is 4-8. What do the rest of you think?

@Memphis - W
Arkansas - W
SELA - W
Cal - L
@Alabama - L
Vandy - W
@Mizzou - L
A&M - L
@Auburn - L
New Mexico State - W
LSU - L
@MSU - W

It would be just like us to beat Memphis and Arkansas only to lose to friggin Cal. But honestly, I'd put more on us losing to Memphis and then running off three straight. I have a feeling we start 4-0 and still go just 6-6 (Vandy and NMS) but get better and better as the season progresses.

Truthfully, I have no idea, but as I've said before, I'll take 6-6 with fight and improvement as we proceed.

I’ll say 5-7. I could see Memphis, Arkansas, Vandy, and Cal going either way though. I think our range is 2-10 to 6-6.

What I’ll be happy with...

I’ll be happy if we can go 6-6 or better and knock off a top 15 team in the process. I don’t care if we take a loss to Memphis, or Arkansas, or whoever. If we could go 6-6 and knock off at least one quality opponent I can live with giving this staff another year as it is a young team. This assumes there wouldn’t be a better coach on the market than Luke and who would be willing to take the job. Most of all, I want a competitive team on the field.

What would disappoint me...

5-7 or worse with blowout losses to teams like Alabama, Auburn, Miss St, and LSU. The thing is, it would be hard to blame Luke as it sounds like MacIntyre has full control of the defense, but getting clobbered so badly by divisional opponents just wouldn’t be a good look for Luke or Ole Miss football anymore. I think it would be admirable for Luke to proactively resign in those circumstances and I wouldn’t fault him for his time as head coach and dealing with the fallout from the NCAA stuff. I’d just want a different direction and feel for the program from the head coach level at that point.

Anyways...

I’m going to be optimistic and say 8-4 while raising some eyebrows in the process. Our team will gel for a little bit after the Vandy win and snag a couple unexpected victories. We will then be brought down back to earth by Auburn’s defense. We may or may not win one of the games against LSU and Miss St. I feel more uncomfortable about those predictions than I do Memphis up through New Mexico State. I do feel however an electric Matt Corral and company could go off against LSU at home or Miss St on the road. We’ve played them well in the past when expected to get beaten soundly. The question will be how does the defense perform and do they get better as the season progresses?

@Memphis W
Arkansas - W
SELA - W
Cal - L
@Alabama - L
Vandy - W
@Mizzou - W
A&M - W
@Auburn - L
New Mexico State - W
LSU - W
@MSU - L

I have been saying we have a lot more talent than what we displayed last year. Poor coaching is horrible to watch and our coordinators sucked bad! We are going to be much more organized. Watch the videos in fall camp and the players are saying that! Poorly coached and for Henry, they weren't Luke's hires then, now is different. It reminds me of the saints in the late eighties early 90s when we had cornerbacks get toasted constantly only for them to go to another team and become all pro there! Coaching wrong gets that result. I personally expect the defense to keep us in games this year.

We have 2 easy wins and 6 other winnable games. This team isn’t winning 8 games but if everything goes well 6-6 or potentially 7-5 are probably the best this team could do. This team will either be like the 2011 or 2012 team. If this team loses the first two games it is going 2-10 just like the 2011 team. If it can win the first two 6-6 is very possible. I can’t see this team losing to Memphis and then turning around in an empty stadium beating Arkansas.

Dude just stop. We could play all freshman and still beat them by 3 touchdowns.

I'll take 6-6 this year. If we lose to Memphis then you can look at us going 3-9 or 4-8.

This seems fine. An upset of one of Mississippi State, Auburn, or A&M wouldn’t surprise me, but losses to Memphis, Cal or Arkansas wouldn’t surprise me either

The amazing thing about football is this...
Defense wins championships.
The defense should be greatly improved. The scheme fits the athletes and the attacking style should produce more turnovers.
Gone should be the bend but don't break that only allows for TD's. You want to get off the field as soon as you can and give your offense more possessions.

6-6 is possible. But what would be more important is to see a more competitive game when the likes of Bama, LSU and Auburn are the opponents.

I would like to see wins against Arkansas, Missouri, A&M and State. To me, that would be a huge step in the right direction for the new coaching staff. But who knows what will happen this season. We start off playing Memphis and they are supposed to go undefeated.

Nobody really knows how good the talent could be, we haven't seen good coaching in so long, it's hard to tell.
