Roberto's River Road Restaurant near St. Gabriel, LA. It's about 20 minutes south of LSU, but worth the trip.

Los Amigos, best homemade salsa I've ever tasted; I could drink it through a straw!

As for Clinton...you are right, you live in a town with less than 10,000 people...so what do you expect? You can get very good BBQ at Coal Creek Smokehouse BBQ in Lake City (aka Rocky Top). I've always enjoyed eating at the Cove Lake Restaurant at the Cove Lake State Park. Each of these are just up the road from Clinton. While I haven't eaten there, I've heard very good things about the Riverview Grill (Hwy 61 between Clinton and Oak Ridge).
Two years ago I would have told you to eat at Little China in South Clinton, but since Sue retired and sold it, it went down hill. I have been all over the world, and they had the best 5-spice Chicken I've ever had. That being said, I liked Little China even more when at it's original location across from the Anderson County Courthouse next door to the Ritz Theater...but I digress.
BTW...Go Dragons...
ETA...there is still a Sonic in Lake City for a knuckle check.
Update Edit...Business Insider ranks Knoxville #40 on their list of the 50 Best Food Cities in the US.

There used to be another pretty good place near there. I think it was in that old hotel.

I know there is a decent bar in the Windsor. I just started going there regularly in the last 2-3 years.

Has Downtown Brewing Co become a hipster hang out? Used to love going there (not on gamedays) and getting a burger and a beer.

It's expensive. Unless your girlfriend's parents are offering to foot the bill, it isn't worth it.

Not really. I personally don't really give a shite who is there if I decide to go eat there though.

ETA: Bentonville has a better restaurant scene than Fayetteville, and it happened practically overnight. Preacher's Son is a great one.
Crazy to see how much Fayetteville has fallen behind up here for anything that doesn't cater to hippies or bike trials.
Bentonville is good but a few of those places have jumped the shark so to speak. Not a fan of The Hive and Preacher's Son was ok, but not for what they charge. Between the prices and everyone trying to outdo each other with pretentious sounding ingredients, it's a bit much.
