The best restaurant(s) in your town or surrounding town?

In the town I live in there is nothing very good actually, so for great food you have to go to Fayetteville.
My favorite is Doe's, followed by Pesto Café. Herman's used to a staple, but it is not as good as it used to be, IMO. Some of the taco trucks are fantastic also.

Wilhagans isn't the best, but it's my favorite. Best place to grab a club.
Avenue Pub or Southern Ale House has my vote for best. Never ate at Cypress Inn though.

For private events...Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN (James Beard Award winner)
For public restaurants...I would say Foothills Milling Company in Maryville, TN, or J.C. Holdway in downtown Knoxville.

Was the best maybe 20 years ago, but probably not even in the top 10 in Tuscaloosa anymore.
Evangeline's is the best in Tuscaloosa. Avenue Pub for something more casual.

Agree with you on Evangelines. Also for the money Depalmas is pretty good.

Bocca is my favorite place in Fayetteville for now. Like Pesto Cafe, it is weirdly/poorly situated from a real estate standpoint, but it's always packed. Vetro 1925 just off Square is second. Both primarily Italian. Mockingbird Kitchen is a good lunch spot with a unique and tasty menu. Again, terrible real estate.
Wright's BBQ in Johnson has changed the brisket game in Arkansas. It's pricey, but effing great. Best brisket BBQ (I know, "it ain't reeaaalll barbecue") I've had outside of Texas.
ETA: Bentonville has a better restaurant scene than Fayetteville, and it happened practically overnight. Preacher's Son is a great one.

Sigh. I moved to a bad place.
OK.. the Shake Shack (Note, this is a local family owned place that has been around since 1976) here serves up decent grub. The local grocery store deli offers up a great fried chicken that is tasty and cheap.
For everything else... we brave the deep waters of Memphis.

Living just outside of Knoxville, I would have to say wherever I end up one week out of the year on vacation because it sure isn't anything good around here

Knoxville has almost 200K people there and you're trying to say it doesn't have a single good restaurant

You either don't really live just outside of Knoxville, or you are ignorant of your surroundings.

The best place in my immediate area is The Wooden Spoon. It’s always busy because there is nothing within 25 mile radius. Fantastic desserts and a good lunch special.

You're closer to Bentonville than Fayetteville, then.

Best place in Nashville would probably be The Catbird Seat although Bastion is awfully good too...

I live right outside DC, so there are too many places to say that one is the best. That said, Shelly's backroom cigar lounge has amazing wings.
