Someone's got to be their cook. Someone has to grow their heirloom veggies and livestock.
The overhead for starting a business decreases as technology and software gets better. Hell all you need is a website and you can be off and running. The demand for more specialization is growing quickly in wealthy western economies and soon within the growing middle classes in China and the like.
The future is bright. Not a grim dystopia.

All fast food restaurants should have to provide free birth control to their employees. Birth control should be a requirement for employment at fast food joints. You work at McDonald's, you can't have children.

Chik-Fil-A workers should get $10/hr. Every other fast food worker should get about $4/hr.

i'm sympathetic to people's need for more money in a sluggish economy, but i just don't believe people today justify a raise 3x what i was making in minimum wage 10 years ago.
inflation hasn't gone up that much and they aren't a better work force.
and every minimum wage job i started (3 of them) i was at >$7 an hour before i left. so if people are getting minimum wage, it's not because they are trying.

While I don't think McDonald's employees deserve to be making $15/hr, I also don't think their CEO should be making 700 times as much as the minimum wage they are being paid now.

i always like to compare my life and happenstance to what i'm doing and what i've achieved and not look at somebody else and compare my life to theirs and be all butthurt.
it helps me sleep better at night

Management is typically overvalued in huge organizations. While good leadership certainly adds value, they can only control so much and know so much about their business. So yes, I do think companies tend to overpay CEOs.

Absolutely not. I have a degree, actually have a career in my field and don't make $15/hour. I'm aware I chose a low paying field because it is what I love to do, but I did have to work my arse off to get here.

I like the part where you know better than multi-billion dollar corporations and their boards in what good salaries are for CEOs.

It's an issue of size and the influence one person can have in large organizations that you should know are largely inefficient. One person can't know every aspect of the business in a large corporation. The success and failings of an organization are tied to many factors, and like a head coach or quarterback or President get too much credit when it works and too much blame when it does not.
Is it not possible for corporate boards to over value some things and undervalue others? You know, like every other human on the planet.

McDonalds jobs are not careers, they're supposed to be temporary and so is minimum wage. I made minimum wage for 1 and a half summers as a 15-16 year old kid. By midway thru my second summer, I developed a skill that qualified me for a job which paid more $. Now, I could have stayed marginally skilled, showed zero initiative and worked for $3.35 an hour for every summer in the same job that was only paying minimum wage. Because that job would still be paying minimum wage regardless how long I toiled there.
Removing artificial potatoes from grease and dumping 3x the necessary salt on them is not a $15 an hour gig, no matter how long you've been with the company. McDonalds is paying for a task to be completed and it's only worth what the market will support.

I recently ordered a chicken sandwich, plain, from mcdumps and it somehow came back fricked up. It had cheese, pickle, mayo, and mustard on it. This was not an isolated incident. When a sumbitch can make an order as simple as what I asked for, then maybe, just maybe they would be with $10/hour and that is pushing it.

My recent trip to McDonalds, They were wrapped around the building, After waiting 20 mins for my turn and 10 extra mins once I finally got to the order screen, The employee asked what I wanted to order. As soon as I got "20 piece chicken nuggets" out of my mouth, the employee said, "hold on" and disapeared for another 10 mins.

If they don't make livable wage, us taxpayers pick up the tab for their social benefits, right? Employers should pay them a little bit more but not $15 an hour.

No. They should be paid $6 per hour--with no medical care, no dental care, no eye care, no … aw, frick it–no bathroom breaks.
