My uninformed opinion: I think the article was always going to look something like this. I don't think it was ever set up to be a "hit piece." If that was truly the intent, there would've been a lot more digs in it.
I think Pat Forde is a shite head who heard that an article was going to come out...

Mainieri used to do this too. He said doing 2 midweek games early in the season was so that he could get basically the whole pitching staff a chance to get out there....

I was thinking about that same quote during the game. In reality, midweek games don't mean jack squat for the team's tournament seeding. But it does have an effect on the team mentality and getting into that championship mindset....
