The entire stretch from Vicksburg to Memphis is pretty barren

The Alabama Black Belt. It’s like going back in time 100 years.

I suppose that disqualifies the entirety of Mississippi then

Anything east of I-75 in Kentucky is top 10

There's country, redneck, hillbilly and Delta ghetto trash. Throw in the handful of river rats and you've got even more diversity. All very distinct. All very toothless.

I think it’s about 50 miles north of the Florida-Alabama state line. The whole drive from Memphis to the Panhandle is the quintessential south IMO.

The I-10 corridor from west of Tallahassee to east of Pensacola.

Florida gets a reputation for not being genuinely southern but the Panhandle is the real deal.

US route 1 from Augusta to Baxley gets my nomination. Ain’t hardly anything on that stretch through Wrens, Louisville, Swainsboro, and Vidalia.

Hell. The other end of US 1 from Baxley to the state line might be worse. Lol. Alma to Folkston thru the okefenokee swamp

I'm not sure if West Virginia counts as the South but it's the countriest place I've ever been.
