This but I would say the stretch of highway 1. I wouldn’t say country but the most “southern area” of the US. Once the wealthiest area in the nation.

I'm not there now, but I have spent most of my life in that green zone. My parents and both sets of grandparents were born and raised in that area and never left it. They are all buried there today. When my uncle (who was a contractor who loved to hunt and fish) died he had his casket brought to the cemetery on a flatbed truck with pallbearers in overalls. His headstone is enormous and has a bass and deer etched into it.

When you think of the classic Hank Jr. songs like "A Country Boy Can Survive," "Dixie On My Mind," "If the South Woulda Won," etc., no place in the country is a better representation of that mindset than southwest Alabama.

Sounds like my family. We're from Greene County (Eutaw and Boligee)

East Tennessee

The eastern part of Tennessee is too urbanized for this nomination, in my opinion. I'd much rather go with the Mississippi Delta, Lower Alabama, the FL Panhandle and the low lying areas of GA and SC not immediately on the coast.

Yep. I used to travel the road from Clanton to Selma weekly back when I worked for the DOT. That is the poorest , most desolate area I’ve ever been.

Most Texans like to act like the state is like Dallas/Houston/San Antonio/Austin. But as huge as the state is, it's mostly like Arlen.

also nominating Y City, Arkansas

if you get caught in a flood in Y City, you're done. You're dead. You die of drowning, period.

As someone who’s from Elmore County, we have a community called Slapout, Fleahop, and my personal favorite Semen.

My nomination is Central KY. My ex SIL (no pics and you dont want them anyway) once cautioned me that the food at the restaurant we were at was "highly seasoned because everything has meat grease in it..."

I will take hwy 441 south of Douglas, ga all the way to lake city fl. Nothing but pine trees as far as you can see. A few towns Pearson, Homerville, and of course Fargo and the suwanee river. Not many people live in Clinch County Ga and a lot of it is underwater from swamp being there.

Agree we now live in Georgia whole family but we are from Hayneville and there is nothing but a courthouse and a caution light.
