All guns are loaded at all times. There really isn't much to teach.

Why don't folks clean their guns in a room by themselves? I never clean a gun when others are around.

my room mate shot a hole through his wall while cleaning a gun in his room. Luckily I was sleeping and not studying because the bullet traveled right through the wall at eye level right above my desk.

I'd have ripped him a new a-hole with a verbal beat down. I cannot understand how people are so reckless.

I've got 4 guns in my house right now, I can tell you exactly which ones have a round chambered.

Better be all of them.

Nope, nothing chambered in my 9mm or shotgun. The 38 super has a round in, as does my 380.

None of mine do when they're in the house.

I don't even keep shells in the house with my guns, except occasionally for my little single shot .22 rifle.

The reasoning behind that was an officer disarmed a suspect with a gun to the back of his head and then proceeded to hand the gun back to the suspect because that's how he did it in training. Not sure I believe that story.

teaching proper gun safety in schools, may prevent stupidity like this. There is no excuse for anyone to ever die, in a gun cleaning accident, if this is truly what happened.

He was a cop. He had gun training.

He was just an idiot who didn't first check to see if it was unloaded. That's the first thing you do before cleaning a gun...you don't need training to have common sense.

Accidents like this are bound to happen. These incidents are why I do not support concealed carrying and firearms in general.

One or two accidents and your opinion is set?

Do you also withhold support for automobiles? Airplanes? Motorcycles? Matches?

Transportation devices and matches have real purposes other than firing hire velocity projectiles with the intention to destroy. Guns are fun. I understand that. I just don't think they are worth having around. Sorry I don't like the idea of violent death.

Nope. I'm not really sure how this is relevant to our conversation either. Are you really so insecure about your masculinity that you have to have guns so no one thinks you "take it in the arse"?

Violent deaths by transportation happen much more frequently than by firearm. Firearms can put food on the table as well as provide nonlethal sporting opportunities while creating bonding situations with family members and friends. Its also the only one mentioned that is a Constitutional Right and has shown itself to repeatedly be a part of cause of ethnic cleansing, when the people arent allowed them. Not to mention the countless times used in self defense.
