Somebody on another board is bitching about our net ranking being 39..

Ranting on how we just can't keep playing easy ooc games going forward etc

He's such a dumbass..this year we needed wins to gel and get ready for sec play.

Winning cures all..

This same guy next year will probably be happier if we play harder teams and lose games.

I'd much rather win and gel then lose..at sc we arent good enough too have our cake and eat it too..

I agree with a majority of what you said about winning and geling .

that said, I am a fan of playing the metrics that get us in the tournament. Our previous regime thought it best to play cupcakes, mix up lineups, lose one or a few of those games and then bitch at the end of the season. it was exhausting.

Id love to see us play some premier matchups, even if it means our resume looks like auburns with 0 quad 1 wins. They are securely in. I remember us playing at Kansas probably 20 years ago. a 4 point loss, but it was a hell of a game.

Basketball season is long enough that a loss against a quality team early isn't going to hurt anything, provided it's not an arse beating.

I do agree that this year worked out in our favor. Nobody expected DuPaul and Notre Dame to suck so much this year when the schedule was set, just like nobody expected us to be a solid team. Thankful that was the case though. Those early games did help this team find rhythm and chemistry.

considering we squeaked out some wins against bad teams id agree.

but it would be cool to play a Kansas/Nova/Uconn type team

Gamecock men and women are a combined 38-3 after tonights ladies win

The women are 3 sec games from tying the SEC record for consecutive regular season wins. Ole miss, Mizzou, @Tennessee .

Gamecock men win by 10 @ UGA. they certainly will be ranked on tuesday.

19-3 (7-2). just incredible. 5 straight SEC wins, including 2 top 10 wins.

Pair that with 20-0 and you get 39-3 combined. Lady G's get coach yo and ole mis next

Yeah, I went to the game in Columbia the following year and we got smoked.

ETA: I’m pro scheduling tough OOC matchups in all sports.

Men's and women's bb team are a combined 40-3. Never thought I would see that here.

It was a fantastic second half today.

Mizzou and Uconn will be without Cardoso. I really want to keep our streaks going

This is why you have seen Watkins playing so much. I don't think we need Cardoso to win either of those games.

some national stuff -

quote:

Winner: South Carolina's Paris makes case for Coach of the Year

South Carolina is one of the stories of the year in college basketball. The Gamecocks continued their hot start to SEC play by knocking off Georgia 72-62. South Carolina is now one game behind Alabama for first place in the SEC with a 7-2 record. This is a team that won four (total!!) conference games last season in Lamont Paris' first season at the helm.

Paris deserves some serious consideration for National Coach of the Year because South Carolina (pending a disaster in the final month of the season) will be in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017 — when they went to the Final Four under coach Frank Martin. – Salerno

and just for laughs -

quote:

Loser: Clemson's pain persists

Clemson's last three losses have come by a combined five points. On Saturday the Tigers fell 66-65 to Virginia when Jack Clark's potential game-winning 3-pointer bricked off the iron just before time expired. The Tigers did well to rally from a 12-point second half deficit but came up just short a week after their controversial one-point loss at Duke. Back on Jan. 16, they fell 93-90 in two overtimes against Georgia Tech. This team remains comfortably in the projected NCAA Tournament field for now. But at just 4-6 in ACC play, the Tigers are messing with mediocrity just as they have so often in recent years. — Cobb

Comfortably in the NCAA is bullshite. I doubt they dance at all.

blows my mind they are comfortably in, but we are having to scratch out top 10 wins just to be considered

but its such a Clemson thing to get hot in one part of the year and be awful in another part. See their baseball team every year

I’m okay with sharing a bracket with them and knocking them out if the tournament.

Gamecocks grab their 20th win of the season. Led by 17 against ole miss, which would have been great by NET, but we let that slip to 3. In the end though its a win, and for us thats all that matters.

During football season, my wife thinks I'm completely insane because of my many superstitions.

For Example,
"But honey, we CAN'T have chicken salad for lunch because the game isn't until 5 pm!!"
"You DO realize that your diet has NOTHING to do with the performance of the football team, right?"
"Yes....

...But I also don't want to take any chances..."
