Serious question, how many Ole Miss fans actually thought you'd keep Kiffin 4+ years?

Dude's been coaching since 1997 and has only stayed at one place longer than 3 years one time (HC at USC for 4 years). When this hire was finalized, was this ever more than a "Well we'll be decent for the next couple of years." type of feel or was there legitimate hope y'all would be able to make him stay longer than he's ever stayed anywhere else?
This is no knock on Ole Miss, more just an evaluation of Kiffin's pattern throughout his career and whether or not that was considered when hiring him.

When we hired Kiffin, I chose to not worry about too much about how long he stays. He's a great coach who has already done great things for our program, and he'll leave our program in a better condition than he found it. I of course want to keep him as long as possible and believe our University should do everything in its power to make him stick around, but if he leaves, he leaves. Only thing I can do is focus on the next game, show up, and be loud.
ETA: He's not going anywhere as of now. So, it's still plausible he stays for 4+ years.

He won't stay around forever. The more jobs he's connected to the better he's doing at OM so I'm just along for the ride.

I don't know anyone who worries about how long the orgasm is going to last at the moment of climax.

Probably about as many Arkansas fans that were convinced Kiffin was going to Arkansas.

I don't even think he'd stay at a program like UF for 4 years. Seems like it's only a matter of time before he's back in the NFL.

I feel like he got banished. Then Saban resurrected him. Then he went stepping stone from FAU to OM to soon somewhere else. I don’t think he’s a malcontent or a transient. He’s just had an odd career trajectory aided by his success when he wasn’t mature enough to handle it.

Shouldn't you be more concerned about your coach spraining a titty or something?

I figured 3-4 years…he’ll always be a “grass is greener somewhere else” kinda guy…I won’t be mad when he leaves…disappointed, but not mad.

I doubt any rational Ole Miss fan expected Kiffin to be in Oxford for the long haul. From my perspective, he would bring some much needed energy to the program after NCAA probation and Matt Luke. He certainly has done that. If he leaves this year, the program is in much better shape than it was when he took over. There are rumors that Keith Carter is prepared to make him one of the highest paid coaches in college football....if it is about money, he won't need to go anywhere...

Honest question: How long does anyone stay at a stressful job where they make $6-10 million a year, in any profession? Coaches don’t have to be lifers anymore. They’re set for life & can afford to accept new challenges if they choose. Every coach I’ve ever seen seems to enjoy the first few years of putting their own stamp on a program. I look for more coaches to bounce around every 4-5 years. CFB is gonna be like the NFL with recycled coaches & a few new faces every year
