Upper 50% completion percentage. I’d argue we could watch film from all his 3 years and they’d mostly look the same.
Snap, DL blows past our Guard/center/tackle, Bo flees the pocket and throws an inaccurate pass or dumps it out of bounds.

Bo did not play good at Penn St. Not sure where you're coming up with that.

Amazing what a few dropped passes and a porous OL can do to your perceived talent
Literally nobody is saying Nix has no talent, but as a passer he simply is not good enough. He had two NFL wide receivers last year and still played below average. PFF evaluated him as the #67 QB in the country entering the year. A totally unbiased source basically called him middle of the pack. He’s never been good and it doesn’t look like it will happen under this staff.

5 for 7 passing - 4 of which were converted for 1st downs (1 touchdown)
1 rushing attempt converted for a 1st down.
6 of 8 total opportunities were converted for 1st downs (75%).
Again, the notion that he was "just as bad as Bo Nix" is complete nonsense.
Edit: the 2-point conversion is also technically a one-down (ie: "4th down") play. If you include that, it jumps to 7 of 9 conversions (78%).
Finley did his job as a backup Qb. He didnt look great doing it, however he did show moxy and resolve and bowed up when his team needed him. Good for him.
Stop acting like he is the next coming because by Saturday he could be the next Jeremy Johnson and your arse will be begging to put Bo back in.

He had at least four drops in that game that were chain movers. You need to watch that game again. We did not lose the PSU game because of QB play.

He deserves partial credit. The main culprit was Mason and his prevent defense though.

The notion that this should obviously be TJ’s start Saturday is just wrong. I’m fine with going that direction for the sake of momentum but it’s tricky. I’m interested to see what Harsin decides
Agreed, from a pure leadership/management perspective I wish I was a fly on the wall at the complex this week.

Not going to read into that but unless this week of practices changes it I'm guessing Harsin views it as "Bo was our starter and it'll take more than 15 minutes of decent play from the backup against a bottom tier team to unseat him."
Which is probably what I'd do TBH. I like the idea of Harsin more or less responding to "Finley earned the start" with "none of ya'll earned shite this week - go back to work."

One thing is for sure, I do not regret hiring Bryan Harsin at Auburn. I like his coaching style so far

Finely showed some steely nerves when he avoided the sack, stepped back into the middle, and scanning the WHOLE field. JJ would've probably ended up in the fetal position
What impressed me initially, and that's what I'm trying to get Jang to see ,is when the play was called for a fade route to Jackson, Finley takes the snap, he looks and gets ready to throw the fade, but he SEES the DB LOCKING JACKSON UP, almost like the Penn St db locked up Hudson on that 4th and 2. And Finley using his QB processing, doesn't feel it will work, pulls his arm back, and tries to scramble from the pressure to make another play.
Sure, as Jang said, he turns his back on the pressure, and if that is an SEC team, he could be done, and he even said he did something he has never done, so by admitting it he tells me he knows what he is doing on that play.
But realize also he has not been in any pressure situations with the game on the line like Bo has been this year in the Penn St game, and ofc so many games Bo did the same last year.
Again, not saying he is the future QB for us, but for now, he deserves to try to get better on the field under HArsin/Bobo.

*one practice squad, 219th pick, NFL wide receiver and one 91st pick, still on a roster.

My biggest question was authenticity and with that, credibility. So far I'm buying what he's selling. Still a lot of unanswered questions, but on the cultural front, I'm starting to believe it. Of course, nobody will care about your work ethic culture if you don't win. So one needs to follow the other.

Agree to disagree. QB position is different and is the field general position that the guys look to for leadership. We see this happen with injuries too, Eason/Fromm, so this isn’t taboo to keep rolling with the guy who made the plays at the end of the day.

I assume most of us can see it both ways. I don't think it's "wrong" to start either, I just don't think Finley is the hot hand in any meaningful way and my hunch is that Bo is the more likely of the two to rise to the occasion against LSU.
I'm certainly more intrigued if TJ gets the start, of course.
