Against a bottom tier opponent. Wouldn't have mattered if Stetson threw 8 TDs today. It was UAB.

When Stetson can beat elite teams and succeed in the NFL, I'll be convinced.

Neither of those things will ever happen.

Probably should have just used today to further train Beck and Vandagriff...even if it meant for a bumpier ride. Padding some stats for Bennett against a bad team is useless for the future. Real game reps for the future QBs on the other hand has payoff down the road.

Who was saying this BEFORE today?
The ONLY posts I saw on here were about how good UAB was along with their defense.

God almighty dude, Bennett virtually has a perfect game and this is your response? GTFO

Can you possibly be more negative?

IT Dawg is a better coach than Kirby. He knows what’s best. Lucius dawg is an even better coach than IT Dawg. They know what’s best. Why the frick are we paying Kirby millions of dollars again. He’s a fricking idiot compared to these message board posters!

How about you frick off. I’ll enjoy the win and one of the best QB performances any of us have ever seen from a UGA QB. Email Kirby your thoughts. I’m sure he will consider them.

Please stop. You know it’s UAB, and you should see how fricking open these guys are.

All the kid’s ever done is give his all for UGA. Those of you armchair QBs who’ve never played the game might not understand that. Stetson’s a DGD.

clown
Never said I was a better coach, but I do know that Stetson Bennett has proven he can’t do crap against top teams that have a defense. There is a reason we have Beck and BVG. No reason not to prepare those guys for a situation where JT is out for an extended period of time.

Pretty sure against Bama and Florida last year, Scoutie Stetson had more picks than TDs and under 50% completion percentage.

Did Stetson hit the wide arse open receivers? yup.
Did he have a good statistical day? Yup.
Good for the young man. I was rooting for him last year and certainly yesterday. What’s crazy is the idiots on this board thinking he’s more talented than either Beck or BVG and should start vs Florida again this season if for some reason JT can’t go.

The NFL is a weird measuring stick to use.

What's funny is that Beck and Stet both ended up w/the same # of pass attempts but one was clearly shown not to be ready(Beck) while Stet had a career day against a team that had a top-25 defense last year.

Relax, francis.

They gave up 500 yards and 31 points to the only team they played last year….and that was to a Miami offense that ranked like 35th last year

Again, you all are getting defensive because you like the kid and appreciate everything he’s done for the program. I like him and think he’s done great for our program too. I’m just saying that if you don’t unleash these backups and let them have their time, they are going to transfer to Ohio State and win a Heisman when given a chance to actually play and start

Coaches absolutely should NOT be making personnel decisions based on fear of transfer. That’s essentially like negotiating with terrorists: you do it once and the kids learn that it’s an effective way to get what they want and so they continue to make threats, holding team goals hostage to their own desires.

Smart did the right thing by starting Bennett. Beck got plenty of playing time and experience and some needed confidence (and film) to help him continue to grow while we got the big offensive output needed to win and satisfy the naysayers who thought week one exposed our inability to move the ball.

Beck would be a dumbass to transfer over this. He’s in the lead to be the starter in 2022 unless he gets passed by a younger kid with less experience and playtime or a true freshman.

If he thinks he’s going to get beaten out in 2022 yes…then he transfers. If he does it this season he’s just admitting that BVG is ahead of him anyway.

There's a difference between who has the most "talent" and who is the better, more effective QB

Hell,Dwan Mathis was far more "talented" then Bennett but not a better QB.

Stetson did pretty well vs bad defenses last year so lets examine his numbers vs good teams. I know Stetson can win us games - he's proven it over and over. I also know that vs good defenses he struggled and vs Florida he got himself benched and lost the job. Maybe he improved a ton over the offseason and can win these games this year. I'm happy for him. He played great vs UAB.

vs
FLA
8FLA

Comp ATT YDS QBR TDs INTs LONG

Not as bad vs Bama but 18 of 40 isn't going to beat Bama and he played way worse in the 2nd half. The pass tips at the line were brutal.

@Kentucky - Threw 2 picks but was otherwise decent.

Played pretty good vs Auburn. His best game vs a decent defense.

What? Do you not remember that he separated his shoulder on the TD pass and went back in the game?

His numbers were fine up until that point I believe.

Not saying he's NC caliber QB but let's not rewrite history.
