Speaking to reporters at the SEC Meetings, head coach Kirby Smart admitted that he wasn't at all surprised that Georgia missed the College Football Playoff after losing in the SEC Championship Game...
quote:

“No, not surprised at all,” Smart said. “We had our opportunity on the field. That’s what you can ask for, not cry over it. I think we had a good football team.”

“I don’t know, not for me to decide,” Smart said. “We didn’t get to play the others.”

The WHOLE problem was the committee backing itself into a corner with the Texas beat Bama head to head. They kept Texas ahead of Bama all season and kept saying Texas won head to head. When bama beat UGA the same had to be said. Now, because of your season long narrative You can't put UGA ahead of Bama because Bama won the head to head. What the committee should have said was we just think Texas is a better team right now. The whole Texas beat Bama thing came back to bite them in the a$$ when Bama beat UGA.

Biggest difference between him and Saban. Nick Saban would be crying that it's not fair.
