They will negotiate it down.

You think their Athletic Dept just have those funds lying around? After a year when almost every big time AD lost millions?

Obviously they do fine with revenues in normal years but its not real desirable to have that hit on your books over the course of over how many years they'll pay it off.

Exactly. tu May make 200 M in rev in a normal year but they spend most of it as well.

They’re not going end up paying that. Enough of the leftovers of the Big 12 are going to find places to blow it up.

Negotiate down and pay it off soon enough with the money they will be getting from the SEC.

How will Texas and Oklahoma owe the Big XII money when the Big XII won't be in existence?

Both schools will wait it out while the other Big 12 members find other landing spots. They'll wind up owing nothing once the conference is no more.

I think the revenue from the SEC will more than compensate and loss of revenue from the big 12

The SEC revenue will offset loss of Big 12 revenue

I think it only takes a couple more teams or so to leave their conference and the grant of rights is void. I don’t see them having to pay anything.

They won't leave until one of two things occur. Enough votes to kill the league or 2025

You think each school is getting 76 more M a year with this move?

I can’t see them waiting until 2025 to split. I think this thing breaks apart fast and they bounce within the next 2 years.

Actually OU is like top 5 in actual PROFIT, so at the end of the year they have more money than UT.

Also the PAC media deal is up in 2023, ACC in 2024 so other big 12 teams will be long gone before then. No payout it happening.

The remaining schools are like third party beneficiaries to any contract

Might be a way around local politics, give teams a four year notice to find a spot.

Chump change for A&M. Chump change for Texas. Now Oklahoma might have to go digging in the coach cushions and set up a Go Fund Me ...

The SEC is making a power play that will set the league up for unprecedented new media deals. $76 million is a nice chunk of money but it’s modest when you compare it to what’s coming.
