Long story short (TOO LATE) if Jimbo can turn Mond into a much better player who gets drafted it stands to reason he can do the same with guys who aren't coming into the program as raw project players.

Mond was a pretty highly recruited player who was initially projected to be a mid round pick like he ended up being.

It isn't like Jimbo took some three star garbage player and made him a draft pick.

Jumbo isn’t a bad coach. He’s won an NC. But A&M is an irrelevant program and can’t win regardless of the coach. A&M fans like to project that they are a program on par with 3rd tier programs like UGA, Oregon, Wisconsin etc that are able to break through once in a while or go on elite runs. When In reality A&M is comparable to programs like MU, Kentucky, Illinois, and others who have had decent years off and on but really never win anything significant or even appear in those significant games. I mean really A&M is a barely over .500 program all time. They get way too much credit for being a Texas program in the SEC.

He was still considered a project at QB and wasn't even supposed to start his freshman year. The only reason he did was b/c Starkel broke his ankle during the UCLA game. Hell, had Starkel not broken his ankle A&M probably doesn't collapse in that game and Sumlin may have been able to hang on for another season which likely means Mond doesn't start his sophomore year and Jimbo ends up elsewhere.

My concern, if I was A&M, is that his best season came against an SEC West that was replacing three head coaches and Yaw Yaw. You could trip and fall and still manage to clear that hurdle.

Who’s to say that will be his “best season?”

Never as long as he continues to run his very antiquated and lame offense.

I've asked several times and never gotten single substantive response from anyone on TD. What about his offense is antiquated?

but 2-1 against LSU

He is not 2 & 1 against LSU. That first game A&M stole with the help of the referees on four different occasions. Go re-watch the game on YouTube if you don't believe me.

The second game he would have lost had LSU played Max Johnson the entire game like they should have.

Meanwhile, all Jimbo Fisher's offense, which was loaded to the gills last season could muster against the worse LSU defense in history, was a measly 13 points.

Say he gets 4 more games vs Saban, your life is on the line, would you place it on Jimbo winning just 1 of those? I would NOT and I’d guess most wouldn’t either. Therefore he likely won’t win the West & presuming the playoffs stay at 4 he likely won’t make the playoffs if last years shafting or A&M is any indication of both Bama AND A&M getting in.

Except he is. Deal with it.

It's cute that you believe that.

Not even close to true. Not sure why you guys always feel the need to make things up like that.

In the rain after three weeks of not being allowed to practice b/c of COVID. Big deal.

What's the excuse for 17 on Vandy?

Fist game of the year with zero spring practice, no summer workouts, and almost no fall practice and a completely new starting WR group. Mond is a guy who needs to constantly be working on his game and he wasn't able to do it for several months.

I'm not sure why some of you think Mond having a couple bad games is an indictment of Jimbo's offense. Everyone knows his strengths and weaknesses and that he could be a very streaky player.

Same thing for LSU basically and they scored 30+ on a much better defense than Vandy.

Because Jimbo has made a conscious decision to start Mond for three seasons.

Also, it's pretty clear that Jimbo's offense is somewhat outdated which has led to Jimbo not having any elite offenses since the game changed in the mid 2010's.

But when will he be expected to get to Atlanta, win the SEC, and possibly compete for NCs without any excuses?
Jimbo will discover what LSU and Auburn already knows:

"Good" isn't good enough, in the SEC West. You will always face a playoff-caliber opponent in Bama, plus 2-3 strong bowl teams regular season, and another in Atlanta.
"Good" gets you 8-4, 9-3.

Come on..... don’t pull that poor boy shite over here. You ain’t talking to teasips- you frickers could buy him out, and do it again just to make sure he would stay gone if you wanted to.

Serious question - if Sark started having serious success at Texas - how much additional pressure would that put on Jimbo?
