It is a bad take, but a fair point of discussion as an anomaly year on the whole over last 10 seasons.
I think it’s pure garbage simply by the other teams listed in the same article. There are many examples to use (practically every team listed) but let’s look at Texas. What have they done since 2005? I mean it completely idiotic to even compare our two programs . 247 is obviously confused about the term “One Hit Wonder” as are many people on this board. A program that has won one championship and then not played for another or won one in 20 years would define one hit wonder to me, but a team that has won 3 National Championships and played for a fourth during that same time should not be grouped in with the same teams.

It seems like the criteria for this list is massively over performing pre season expectations, then not sustaining that success the next year.

Seems about right. But, LSU has won 3 titles in the century. Probably leave them off.

How can the team that won the most games in the SEC between 2000 and 2019 (including 3 NCs) be a “one hit wonder”?

Weren’t they in the Rose Bowl just a few years later? I think the Juice Williams team?

Some of those aren’t even wonders

One hit wonder for Auburn may be a bit of a stretch. They went to another BCS National Championship three years later.

Interesting they didn't pick the season where A&M finished highest during the time frame.

Agreed! Auburn shouldn’t be on that list either

Stupid. Lsu will repeat!
Of course when you’re THE BEST OF ALL TIME you will drop off. Noting unexpected but LSU will be back

I get that, but the team didnt drop off; they completely fell the frick off. 600+ yds passing to an MSU QB who didn't finish the season as a starter.
This isn't a troll, as I am a big LSU supporter; however, somewhat objectively, that was one of the biggest week 1 title defense boondoggles in a game against an overmatched team (talent wise) in CFB history. Things didn't really get better from there.
2019 has a STRONG argument for GOAT, but let's stop pretending that 2020 doesn't have an equally GOAT title defense collapse feel to it. The Marlins are the closest example that pop into my mind without googling worst years after a championship year.

Bro we lost 20 players set a record for most drafted at 14. And we play in the SEC. Nobidt cares about last season we will be back and being the greatest team of all time will shine for 100 years

That is a regular Saban problem: how do I reset after massive production turnover and coaching loss. Never once does he give up 600+ yds passing to anyone, let alone MSU and an eventual backup QB.
2019 was a great year for LSU (arguably GOAT), but let's not overlook the need for consistency.
Lsu will most assuredly be back; too much talent and passion not to do so.

auburn made the National championship 3 years later

Saban has never had to do it without a spring or fall camp. While replacing DC and trying to install a completely new defense. With no spring or fall. Limited practices and no time for a practically “brand new” team to come together and gel... oh and not to mention; lose his starting Qb in just the 3rd game. Have his no. 1 reciever opt out. Saban has never faced those same challenges and obstacles. No coach has ever faced anything even remotely similar.
