Per FootballScoop

quote:

Sources informed FootballScoop that Steele, officially the Vols’ interim coach following the program’s Monday firing of Jeremy Pruitt amidst both an internal and external investigation, is moving to reunite with veteran defensive assistant Rodney Garner. Additionally, Steele is discussing a plan to move former Vols standout linebacker Kevin Simon from his off-field role as director of player development into Tennessee’s linebackers coach’s position.

quote:

A source with firsthand-knowledge on Tuesday afternoon told FootballScoop that interim University of Tennessee Kevin Steele was expected to be allowed to make some on-field hires to fill the handful of openings on the Volunteers’ staff. Late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, sources told FootballScoop the direction Steele is working to take in what Steele intends to be his initial staff maneuvers, if and when Tennessee allows its interim coach to attempt to fill out the myriad openings in the Vols’ football department.

quote:

Even with these pending moves, Tennessee still has multiple openings on its football staff. Tennessee wideouts coach Tee Martin is on an expiring contract at month’s end, Will Friend’s spot as Vols’ offensive line coach remains open and the Vols also are down three defensive assistants after the dismissals in the past four months of Jimmy Brumbaugh, Shelton Felton and Brian Niedermeyer.

If Steele eventually returns to a role as position coach and the Vols can hang onto Derrick Ansley, their defensive staff is full with these latest moves

Imagine saying you're firing Pruitt for recruiting violations amongst which was a bagman paying players...

... then promoting Kevin Steele to be your interim HC and bringing in OG bagman Rodney Gardner as DC.

NCAA should just death penalty the university. Every sport.

Well, he started at Auburn before going to TN, then UGA and back to Auburn again.

Why the hell would they let him do that unless that were planning on removing the interim tag?

This guy's passed money to more players at more schools, than any coach in history.

The positions have to be filled regardless of whether he's considered an interim or not

So Dline and one LB slot are good. Ansley stays that’s DBs. Steele helps at LB to round out that side.

Chaney is retained as OC and Weinke as QB coach, Graham at RB. Need a ST, Oline, TE, WR coach.

Everything UT does in the aftermath of kneecapping Pruitt will come back to haunt the Vols. I predict the President & Chancellor will lose their jobs over this debacle and UT itself will wander in the wilderness for another decade before they finally admit to themselves what they did was wrong on every level and face their fate honestly.

eta - this really is the most dishonest rotten action any SEC school has ever taken to fire a coach. This is as much about hating Alabama as it is firing Pruitt. The hate is seeping through the pores of UT boosters forcing the UT administration to bend the truth so far it can't be defended. At some point Sankey will have to get involved to slap down UTs deceit.

I hope Peyton's part in this mess gets exposed too - if he was in cahoots with Fulmer prior to the investigation he's as guilty as anyone at UT - maybe he's the real culprit to blame for this mess.

Probably brought him in to explain that your bagman shouldn’t be dropping off payments to recruits like it was a drive through.

Amateur hour over there so they called in the expert.

The fact that they are making a new on the field coaching position hire before having a true HC, tells me they have their true HC already there. Good luck Vols with Kevin Steele has you HC for the next 3 to 4 years.

How old? If they get the old Trooper and Looper bagteam back together, this could be a bagman operation that would likely break down the walls between dimensions.

It's too dangerous to consider.
