Gotta say . . .
This defense has improved by leaps.

Few mistakes. All we had to do was simplify the defense.

Pretty damn happy with the tackling tonight.

I know we shite on the defense a lot, but they were great tonight and have been pretty solid the last 3 games.
I’m digging it

We've looked fundamentally better.
LSU stinks but that'll be a step up in 2 weeks. Hopefully we keep playing well.

Solid outing, no doubt about it. Dylan Moses still has a lot of work to do. His fundamentals are... yeeesh, not great.

Remember when Ole Miss put up 647 yards and, until this weekend against Vanderbilt, hadn't looked anywhere close to that good again? Mississippi State or not, this defense has looked pretty good since the beginning of the second half against Georgia.

First time Leach has been shut out as a head coach

He won’t but Dylan could actually benefit from using this Covid eligibility and playing another year. I still think part of his problem is trusting his knee.

13 and 14 on the field at the same time has helped.
50, and 48 are helping
31 is starting to figure it out.
8 is tackling better
Playing zone has helped
I really hope 13 wasn't injured on next to last play of the damn game.
32 still disappears at times.
2 and 28 are studs, 13 is a stud, and 14 clearly is on his way.
Yeah... the defense is most definitely improving.

That’s all we need is improvement each game.
Get to the end and dominate the playoffs.
I want a scorched earth approach.

What he needs more than anything is a rock solid LBer coach - someone that can teach him the fundamentals of the position and proper technique. He’s an incredible athlete, but he just has not learned how play ILB; he still struggles filling running lanes and lacks basic tackling technique. Didn’t he only play offense up until his senior year of high school?
I’m not blaming him; it’s just something that he needs if he wants to be an elite defensive player at either the college or especially the pro-level.

When scheme meets talent it is a beautiful thing my friends. Our Dime defense was running downhill all night. They knew their assignments and understood what Leach was trying to do better than Leach's players. Our multitude of DBs, including Branch, played fast and they played viciously. They were tagging people all night and if they weren't intercepting they were close enough to keep slapping the ball out of receivers grasp. From the opening defensive play of the game, you could just see the guys were playing with zero hesitation. Our D-line and outside edge look liked they were told, the hell with it, just go get them. Just to watch Allen and Anderson, together, crashing the party in long down and distance all night was too wonderful to put into words. 200 total yards and a goose egg was the answer to the Miss State riddle last night. Who said keeping things in front of you can't be fun?

Allen and Anderson, like in 2016

On what you can take from this defensive performance...
CNS: “I think it’s a positive sign that the players were able to do the things that were a little different and go out there and execute them well enough against a pretty prolific passing team. I don’t think they expected us to play the way we played, so that probably was a positive for us.
"We did a lot of research in the offseason on who played them well and who played that offense well, even at Washington State, and we watched all the games this year -- who struggled, why they struggled and who played really well against them.We tried to take bits and pieces of all those things and put them together. We actually worked on this in fall camp, so I think that was beneficial so it wasn’t all new for the players.
“But the way we played the game today is you’re begging them to run the ball, basically. I don’t think you can play that way against most teams, but I think the confidence that the players gained from going out there and getting the shutout in this day and age is a real positive thing for the defense.”

It was Mississippi State, but the minor things we as fans notice has taken a noticeable turn. Since the second half of UGA, guys are tackling in space better and there aren't as many busted coverages. Certain guys are starting to step up and become play makers. Malachi Moore is a boss.

13 and 14 -Moore and Branch
50, and 48 are helping- Smith and Mathis
31 is starting to figure it out.-Anderson
8 is tackling better- Harris. (We have JOHN METCHIE III who wears 8)
Playing zone has helped
I really hope 13 wasn't injured on next to last play of the damn game.
32 still disappears at times.- Moses
2 and 28 are studs, 13 is a stud, and 14 clearly is on his way. Surtain, Jobe 13-Moore and 14- Branch
Yeah... the defense is most definitely improving.
It would help if you had to list player's name instead of jersey numbers.
