Should Trelon Smith should be our starting RB?

He can catch way better than Boyd. He runs harder than Boyd (I think partially due to Boyd's hesitation of injuries), and he seems to be more clutch.

He's also the perfect 3rd down back and you don't have to sub him.

Does he have the top end speed and elusivness? Probably not. Is he the best back for the team? Maybe.

Am I crazy? Boyd seems to disappear in big situations.

You are not wrong, he is scared to go forward. Lots of hesitation.

The offense seems sluggish with Boyd in there. Smith moves better, I’m not so sure Boyd is near healthy.

He also seems to have a knack for getting 1st downs. He also gets blown up on a lot of plays, but I think that's more of a scheme/playcalling issue. We also saw virtually no screens to Smith today, which was disappointing.

Boyd has big drops in big moments.

Y’all are being rough on Boyd because of the critical drop. He had some strong runs for 1st down and a TD.

Carries were equally split as they should be. Neither back can carry the ball 30 times.

People also bitch about Paca, when he's the best we've had in years.

I honestly think he could be the #1 back.

Boyd was strong his first few possessions, he was running really hard. But after that he seemed very hesitant and sluggish.

Easily the most productive since BA's last season.

can we not bitch about his decision making while also admitting this?

obviously I'm glad we have him. doesn't mean I'm not going to get mad when he makes bad plays lol

Our OL isn't quite good enough for a back like Boyd to dominate in this offense. They are having a hard time creating gaps, and Boyd isn't as shifty as Smith.

With that said he's still a better NFL pick than Smith, it's just unfortunate he hasn't gotten more yards. He sacrificed money to come back and play for us when he didn't have to.

Hopefully we can open up some lanes for him to hit soon.

He would be better served playing with a QB under center aka NFL style.

He is the best QB since Austin Allen junior season 2016.

Also, Briles would be best served to design some more screens for him.

If he gets in the open field he can take it to the house, it's just tough sledding on the inside right now.

I don't think boyd is bad by any means. I think he's a great back. I just think for most flexibility with offense smith provides that.

You need both though to really get through a game and not wear one out or get them hurt.

Yes. Smith has been the better back all year. He has earned the starting position. Boyd is missing some of his burst this year. Hopefully he can get it back.
