On the Nate subject..

How many of the average players he's coached have improved one year to the next? Not very many.

Guys like Souza. I thought he looked good at the plate early on as a freshman but since then he's just gotten worse.

Kozeal has somehow regressed from last year. That dude was steady Eddie last year. Now he just looks uncomfortable up there.

Kuhio seems to have regressed as well.

Helfrick is about the only guy on this team that has steadily improved at the plate.

As far as the newer guys I really like Ruiz. He was a great pick up.

Pompey should be a great pick up, but he still swings at off speed down and away. You would think the coaches could tell him to lay off that shite. He's got a metric shite ton of power, but if he's chasing trash that power is going to waste. Can't get favorable counts when you get down in the count.

Niu is just not good. He swings and misses too much at pitches in the zone.

Stewart looked promising early on, but has fallen off a cliff in conference.

So 4 transfers and only 1 has been productive throughout the season. NOT GOOD

Sadly, DVH, Hobbs and Thompson are a package deal.

DVH is starting to get older. I don't think he has it in him to move on from either.

Hobbs isn't terrible, but I don't think we've seen too many pitchers improve from one year to the next. Kopps is one, but everyone else seemed to stay the same or regress.

Thompson struggles to evaluate a lot of the kids we get, and to his credit he gets a good one or two occasionally. The problem I have with him is that he cannot coach up the guys struggling to be more productive.

I watch Georgia hitters and it's night and day difference to our guys. Which leads me to believe that Nate is overall a bad evaluator of talent for how he wants to coach offense.

If Gaeckle was just somewhat efficient we would have enough pitching.

His fall off has really hurt this years team.

And some of the other returning pitchers haven't improved.

Offensively we need Aloy, Souza, Niu, and Pompey to cut down on the strikeouts.

Cannot have that many guys strikeout as much as they have.

Georgia's hitting coach is legit.

Either that or he's a much better talent evaluator than Nate Thompson.

Maybe we need to hire Georgia's hitting coach.

He seems to know how to coach Launch Angle better than ol meathead Nate. Either that or he's a better talent evaluator.

Gaeckle just doesn't have it.

His first year he looked like a sure fire pro.

Last year, he was placed in starting role.. struggled, but when they moved him back to the pen he performed.

This year he's hanging all his pitches. Not locating his fastball. Just a recipe for disaster.

I have no idea how he went from dominant to just average in such a short period of time.

You are playing the Arkansas Razorbacks. We find new ways to lose games every year.

We just want to win one championship for DVH.

I have a feeling Kozeal is about to turn the corner at the plate. He's been pressing so much this year. Especially since the guys batting after him haven't been giving us much. He's got so much potential as we saw last year.

As I was saying :pimp:

It wouldn't be a stretch to say these are the best 4 teams in conference currently.

With Arkansas starting to play better of late.

Couple weeks back it wasn't looking so hot. But they are slowly getting better.

We really need this W today.

Need one or two guys at the bottom of the order to start getting some hits. Whether its Aloy, Stewart, Souza, or Robinett.

I have a feeling Kozeal is about to turn the corner at the plate. He's been pressing so much this year. Especially since the guys batting after him haven't been giving us much. He's got so much potential as we saw last year.

Robinnett is a lost cause. He has gotten worse from last year.
But sometimes it's not your night.

Niu, who has been struggling, just caught one off the end of the bat. Had that ball been 1/4" more towards middle of barrel that's long gone.

We screwed ourselves when it was 1-0 Georgia. Had 2 quick outs, then Gibler walked a batter, then hit a batter. Next thing you know its 3-0.

Had he gotten out of that inning we'd be in much better shape.

Still a punchers chance.
Hopefully Thiam is a bully down low on defense.

RIM PROTECTOR. Strong rebounder. Shot blocker.
I know it's about the money, but damn... Basketball is not meant to be played in a football stadium.
DJ will have success wherever he goes.

Hate losing him. But I'm sure both parties agreed it was best for him.

He will get more money and more PT.

And I've said this numerous times throughout the year.

Kenny Payne needs to be fired. Bring in someone that actually coaches big men.

I saw things from our big men this year that were so comically bad I cannot explain it. Bad footwork, bad defensive posture, no discipline.

We had numerous instances where we had Brazile and Ewin or Pringle covering a guy with the ball in the post and they just gave up bucket after bucket. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!? You are telling me one of you cannot block the shot? Not only that, but you cannot even force a bad shot? JUST INEXCUSABLE.

It's funny how pedestrian Arizona looks right now against Michigan.

I'm telling yall.. if we can get some psychotic big men I mentioned in previous post next years team could do some damage.

Seems like all of our recruits are very active on defense.. give max effort.

All the teams in the final four have those two qualities(psycho bigs, guards that play defense). And at that point it just comes down to shot making which we should have enough of next year.

Sure I really enjoyed this years team, but I never saw a team that was tough enough to do any damage in tournament. We were SOFT.

Hopefully Calipari will embrace the tough nosed approach it will take to win it all. Not just the flash/high scoring stuff.
