We aren't in a good place right now as a team.
Injuries, hitting slumps, sub par pitching.
Might lose every series coming down the home stretch.

Arkansas needs to figure a way to win at least one of the next 3 series or they will piss away a top 8 seed.
These dudes are mental right now.
No confidence at the plate or on the mound.
Just bad baseball lately.

Looks like Iredale is starting to get back in a rhythm.
Which is huge because he's such a talent that was really struggling. We need his bat.

Florida pitcher has some good off speed stuff. Batters will have to start thinking opposite field.

Yeah our pitching just seems to fall off a cliff. Same as last year where even Smith was struggling late into rocked in the regional then everyone else is a crapshoot. Now we're just worse at the ace spot and the crapshoot behind him is also worse.
There's definitely been some tendencies with our starters.
I think DVH will start giving them a shorter leash if they start struggling. We have enough quality bullpen arms to give us a few innings.
But if our offense picks it up then I won't be as concerned letting our starters battle thru some tough innings.

I'm still mostly disappointed in our pitching more than anything. Root is lucky to get to the 5th, we seem to never have guys that can go deep. First bullpen guy gives up a huge HR and we are in a big hole early yet again.
There's no doubt pitching isn't as good as previous years, but it's good enough to keep us in all these games.
We have lost 2 of 7, but out of those seven losses only one was out of reach.
Too many wasted opportunities at the plate in those games. Some of it is bad luck, but a lot of it is a bad approach. We cannot trust these SEC umps to get us out of this slump. If we would just start being more aggressive at the plate, early in the count, it would help. Yes I know that 3-2 pitch was a ball guys(called a strike), but you had two pitches in that at bat that were middle middle and you sat on it.
Last night when we got out to that two run lead we were in control, but we started taking too many pitches after that and let their starter get into a rhythm. We easily could have scored 2 more runs in those early innings if we had just been aggressive.
For example, Davalan, his first two AB's he had 2 pitches that he would mash if he had just swung the bat(which he had been doing all year) Instead he sat on them and ended up doing something he hasn't done all year by chasing pitches that weren't remotely close to being a strike. Resulting in back to back K's.
One thing is for certain moving forward, we are going to face teams that have guys hitting a lot better than early in the season. We are going to give up some runs. So we really REALLY need our offense to sack up and start being aggressive against their pitchers.

Hopefully the Hogs will get the bats going today.
We've been in a funk the last few weeks.
I'm hoping we start swinging early in counts to get that confidence back. Too many guys are watching meatballs and getting down early in the count. And it doesn't help that these SEC umps are so damn inconsistent(not an excuse and I'm sure every SEC team agrees)
Pitching hasn't been terrible, but it hasn't been great either. Especially with the cold bats. If we can get a little more production from 1 of those 2 we can get this ship back on the right path.

I feel like our approach has reverted back to last year.
It's like we put a lid on the aggression at the plate.
We are taking so many pitches right down the middle instead of swinging the bat. That's no way to get your mojo back on offense.
If it's a meatball SWING THE DAMN BAT.. I don't care what count it is.
Two things that are happening with our current approach.. we aren't getting guys on base, and we have started to chase really BAD pitches due to being behind in the count constantly.
We're letting the opposing pitcher dictate the game instead of us.
If we will start showing aggression early then opposing pitchers will be more prone to walk us.
We just have to adjust accordingly, but as of right now we haven't.

I guess the only positive from this rough stretch we are going thru is that we're playing our worst ball of the season and still have had opportunities to win every single game sans that one against A&M.

Wasn't expecting that from Thomas.
He's kind of a weird one to me. I think his swing is solid, but for some reason he watches a lot of meatball pitches. Gets behind, and chases off speed away.
That one was an elevated fastball that was a ball and he hits a HR.

Seems like a lot of SEC teams are starting to play their best and several are starting to play their worst. Arkansas being one of the latter.
Our pitching has been average at best lately.
Our hitting has cooled off significantly.

Sure would be nice to start getting guys on base and putting pressure on opponent pitching.
But last few series it's boom or bust.

Well the kid is over 80 pitches now. So he will probably get one more inning. Then bullpen.
But it's frustrating seeing guys watch belt high fastballs right down the middle. SWING THE BAT

My rankings are
Predator
Predator 2
Predators
Prey
AVP's
The Predator
This looks interesting, but can't decipher too much from a trailer.
I'll probably go see it in theater.
