Should Missouri be ranked?

Sitting just outside the AP poll at 25 but 4-8 Nebraska is in there. I say yes, I like what they have coming back at running back, WR TE and OL then add in KB. defense could be a work in progress but their schedule is cake for an SEC schedule.

I think so too. They return quite a bit. Have a pretty easy set up of a schedule. Have a good QB that will change the way they played last year. Most of their key games are at home.

They'll be ranked in a few weeks anyway. They can have our spot after week 6.

If Nebraska is ranked, then yes
So, yes
So, yes

I think both Missouri and Nebraska are both getting graded on a curve because folks see how easy their schedules are. Is Missouri really one of the 25 best teams? Maybe. But the fact they don't play a ranked team until November is making a lot of voters think about putting them on their ballot.
Same goes for Nebraska.
Meanwhile a team like Mississippi State is easily one of the 25 best teams in the country, yet their schedule is much more difficult so most will leave them off their ballot.
Ask yourself this: Who would win on a neutral field, Mississippi State or Missouri? I'd go with MSU, but no one is fretting about them not being ranked.

Nothing new to see here, Mizzou is always undervalued. I'd rather us start off unranked anyways based on past experiences.

No. Don't reward us for bowl flops. Make us earn that shite.

On the flip side though it takes you that much longer to climb the rankings if you do win. Obviously 12-0 or something makes no difference but a 9-3 team that starts the season top 10 ends up ranked a lot higher than a 9-3 team that starts outside the top 25. I don't have a problem with a lot of rankings but the 4-8 Nebraska being ranked on Frost alone is pretty absurd.

We weren't ranked until Week 4 2007 and Week 6 in 2013 and finished Top 10. Would rather have that.

I would rather be preseason top 10 and end up in a better bowl like what happened in 2008 then unranked having to climb the standings. If our 2013 team started in the top 25 we would have been #2 most of the season.

No. Kelly Bryant is not a better QB than Drew Lock. Overyhped.

Side note Lock had a decent game last night other than dropping the snap under center and jamming his thumb on a later play. I was impressed with his performance considering his nfl experience level.

You are probably correct but Mizzou is likely improved in every other area this year other than maybe a small regression in WR but that isn't guaranteed because we played a lot of young guys last year who could improve greatly.

Yea, most people are expecting us to go 8-4 which would put us somewhere near 25. I would rather not be ranked than be put in the 20-25 range to begin the year. Our teams have always played better as the underdog.

This pretty well sums it up. Nebraska was actually winning the race to be the worst P5 team last season against Rutgers and Arkansas (which is damn impressive considering just how woeful Rutgers was) until they rallied to go 4-3 in their final 7 games.
Yes, they did show some potential in the second half of the season. And they do have a steak and blowjob schedule this year. But we are still talking about a team that finished 2 games below .500 and they didn't exactly play a murderer's row last year.
Swap the two team's rankings and that would be fine.

They are much more deserving than Nebraska. And I would take them over Syracuse (why are they 22?) But no one ever really respects non name brand programs in the pre season
