This isn’t the 1970s. There are great restaurant choices throughout the South - in almost any town in the footprint. Too many to mention.
If, however, you are ranking food quality overall:
1A- Charleston
1B- New Orleans
2. - ATL
Also, don’t forget Miami, although many will argue it’s not in SEC country

I thought SEC fans ate whatever they found along the road?

Geographically it is but culturally it’s not - despite that chick with the fake southern accent on CSI.

Best restaurant..lol wtf. That is impossible judge in such a large landscape with 3 or 4 different regions.
Best food cities
#1 New Orleans
#2 Houston
#3 Atlanta

All subjective. But FYI. 2/10 Alabama. No GA.
Subjective indeed...keep in mind, Southern Living magazine is headquartered in Birmingham...as is the SEC...

This might be the only time we ever agree, ITAT. Hot and Hot is as good as any place I've ever been.

Make a top 10 list of New Orleans restaurants and at least 8 of those would be on the SEC top 10 list.
You're either in your 60s or you're a yokel who never leaves his county. Your statement might have been true in the 1970s and 80s but doesn't come close to reality today. Please, do yourself a favor and travel. Expand your horizons. There are wonderful dishes being served in places like Roswell, Ga; Nashville, TN; Lexington, SC and etc.

I think the same guy has a place called Ovenbird. It is outstanding. Best place I have been to in Birmingham. Delicious.
I am no huge flag waver for BHM, but the food here has gone through the roof over the last 10 years. Lots of top tier chefs opening up new places.

It's not.
But I think Miami trumps all 3 in terms of food.
But yea, not "SEC country"

Yup, in Pepper Place. Chris Hastings, he won the James Beard for Best Chef in the South about 5 years ago.
