If this was so and half of MSUs players transferred to UF when Mullen left, how would you really feel about it?

More so that Mullen himself just transferred, in the middle of his contract, to another conference school. It's completely hypocritical.

Athletes should be treated just like regular students, who can transfer at will to any school of their choosing. Some of these coaches act like these players are their belongings.

I am going to let you in on a little know secret. UF > MSU

I completely agree that coaches and the NCAA act like the players are their property.

Man will teams be bitching when the best players from non-contending teams start grad transferring to Alabama to win a title.

We likely will have our best teams under Saban in 2018 and 2019 but we are on the way down? Makes total sense.

I just don't think that would happen. Ole Miss players were free to transfer without penalty this season and only a handful left. Fitzgerald graduated last December and could have followed Mullen to Florida, yet he didn't.

Players transfer if their unhappy. If we have a player at Mississippi State who is unhappy, then I don't want him there anyway.

In no way did I suggest otherwise. I just presented the fact that coaches are free to move around and thus I think players should have that same freedom.

Kirby's right. You can not have open transfer options to every player. You will have teams with 30 players because the others aren't starting.

I hear, ,mainly from the milennial crowd. Well if a coach can leave, so can players. No, the coach has earned the right to better himself and his family. When you have played, u have worked your way up to a head coach and paid your dues, you have earned the right to make those decisions. This, the players should be equal to the coach, is plain out dumb. In this life you EARN your right to make certain decisions and a 19 year old hasn't earned that. This whole deal is a milennial thing where I shouldn't have to pay my dues. It's sending college football down a road they don't need to go down.
Even in the pros, You can't choose to go to another team until your contract is up. Regardless of what the coach does.

Good. No more stockpiling and hoarding players.

I am fine with it if the HC leaves or gets fired.

Agree. Anyone that votes against this is just a hommerish bitch with selfish reasoning. This kids owe these school nothing. The schools are making a fricking fortune off of them.

Burn it all to the ground!

If Orgeron were the coach of my favorite team, I'd be fine with that too.

and upon getting his new job, accepted a transfer from Ole Miss (Van Jefferson) and is fighting for him to be immediately eligible, is against this rule?

This should pretty much end Mullen’s talking points.

But I also find it funny how bare Florida is at wr that they so badly need our wr4 with one year of eligibility left.

Keep the "student" in "student athlete".

Once a kid has the diploma, I believe in free agency. Even within the conference. Graduating early should have perks. It isn't easy to do with the demands of football/training.

Smith was an SEC to SEC transfer and the conference had a rule concerning such as did the Big 10. Placing restrictions. It was not an Alabama thing it was an SEC rule that forbid an SEC to SEC school transfer and immediate eligibility. So the SEC had to meet and change the rule. And they did. Very simple.

The effect will be opposite. Alabama will lose players as five stars will not want play exclusively special teams until their junior year.

Can “students” not freely transfer colleges?

Who really wants free agency? I think most people want grad transfers to be able to go where they want since they have their degree but anyone else has to sit if they go FBS to FBS. Makes sense to me.

If they are accepted into the new university... yes.

All of the student athletes can do that right now.

I'm anticipating your follow up response will be an amazing display of intellect and reason.
