"If you don't win your conference, why should you be rewarded with a chance at a title?"

Like almost every year that Alabama has gotten in losing late? Go sit down nick.

Like in 2009? Or was that the year we went undefeated and kicked the dog shite out of Texas? I can’t remember.

In 2011, 2012, and 2017 yall lost in the month of November and still made the playoffs/title game
Look I agree with Saban in theory, but the truth is that theory applies to most schools but not Bama apparantly
That is why it is ironic coming from him

This is how it was with the BCS as well.
What have you done for me lately and hot streaks are always considered

He’s not wrong. Oklahoma lost to unranked Iowa State at home. Ohio State lost by 5 touchdowns to unranked Iowa. If either of those losses happen late in the season, there’s not even a debate. But since they happened early, and Bama lost their last game, there was a huge debate and there was a large section of the population that thought OSU deserved in over Bama.

That Ohio State loss wasn't early, it was the same day as LSU/Bama.

I can't take CFB serious until they implement a conference champion metric. Teams winning a championship without even winning their division is hilarious.

Quoting this from a 4 loss auburn fan is hilarious.

His point was that the debate about whether or not a one loss SEC team should be in over a 2 loss Ohio State team that lost by 15 to one team and 31 to another team was ONLY because of the timing of the one loss the SEC team received. Had said SEC team lost the 1st conference game of the year and then ran the table it wouldn't have been as much of a debate.
and I'd love to win the conf title every year, but some of you (for convenience of your narrative, no doubt) but equal wait on winning the SEC vs winning another conference. Not all conferences are created equally. Winning a conference championship is impressive, but if you put OSU in the SEC last year and put Bama in the Big, you can't tell me Bama wouldn't have won the Big (and likely wouldn't have lost a conf game, but CERTAINLY wouldn't have lost by 31 freaking points)

How so? AU didn't back into any playoff.

No it’s not, especially in CFB where divisional opponents don’t get home and home games each year and where cross-divisional matchups can have a wide range of difficulty.

Fair point, but they still had 4 games left to play after that. If the loss happened the same week of the Iron Bowl, there’s not much of a debate to be had. That was possibly the worst loss of all time from a supposed championship contender, but because there were 4 weeks left to be played - they ended up in the middle of the debate for that 4th spot.

Doesn’t this happen pretty frequently in every single sport?
