When they get BTFO for their 3rd loss of the year vs 1 loss?
If AU didnt have to play the extra game, they make the playoffs according to the committee
Why did they have to prove it an extra week due to actually winning the division?
quote:Oh I understand it. I understand it is arse backwards in figuring out who makes its post season
Sorry you don't understand college football

Tell the NFL. 6 wildcard teams have won the Super Bowl.

Committee has told you repeatedly that they look at the whole body of work each week and that you should not make the mistake at looking at prior weeks rankings to determine what happens in subsequent weeks.
the committee changes how and why the rank teams every year. The committee was a stupid idea to begin with. All it did was make the teams chosen even more subjective and gave them even more power to get who they wanted in the playoffs every year.

The commitee just needs to be honest
They dont give a shite about SOS, body of work, or anything else
They are going to pick who they personally feel are the best teams
Which is fine, but just be honest about it.
Personally, I hate that, but if that is what the majority wants so be it

I understand I disagree there is any logic in dropping a team due to playing an extra game below the team that sat home because they lost the division The body of work at the end of the season had AU ahead of Bama........ Then, AU had to play an extra game from being a division champ
Even without the SEC champ game Auburn had a lower winning %, which most other sports you are comparing use. They don't use only division records, which is the reason in the CFB winning your division doesn't matter. If you're going to compare sport do it all the way and not cherry pick.

I am using what the SEC has decided is division winner
If they change how they determine division winners, so be it.

Having a team fall because they played an extra game is illogical.
Teams don’t fall from playing in an extra game, teams fall when they lose. Auburn needed to win the extra game to even have a chance at the playoff.

quote:I can see your point somewhat, but what happened to Auburn was Auburn's own fault. They ended the season with 4 losses Clemson - which counts in the eyes of the committee, pissed away a comfortable lead to LSU - which wasn't the end of he world, proceeded to pound everybody else in the regular season including top ranked UGA/AU in JHS boosting them up the rankings (and Gus yanking a yuge contract.) Then went toe to toe with UGA in the SECCG until fatigue and numerous injuries were too much to overcome resulting in a 21 pt loss and we all saw CGM lose his 4th bowl game.
My only argument revolves around what happened to Auburn
They were not one of the 4 best teams in the country when the committee had to seed the teams for the playoff, even though they beat the brakes off Bama in the IB to win the division.
The four best teams in the country fought for the title, and winner reigns supreme.

The SEC decided that Alabam was also the Western Division winner. You leave out pertinent information often.

You're really gonna dick ride a team that lost to UCF as a playoff team?

The committee said they pick the best team. By your standard, if this year Auburn loses to
Washington
Alabama State
Southern Miss
Liberty
but wins all their SEC games including beating an undefeated Alabama and then they lose in the SEC champ game to a two loss Georgia that they should go to the playoff over the one loss Alabama?

I have no issue with a non division winner making the playoffs over a division winner in college football
I do have problems with a non division winner jumping the division champ because of the result of the extra game

He’s not wrong. Oklahoma lost to unranked Iowa State at home. Ohio State lost by 5 touchdowns to unranked Iowa. If either of those losses happen late in the season, there’s not even a debate. But since they happened early, and Bama lost their last game, there was a huge debate and there was a large section of the population that thought OSU deserved in over Bama.
He is wrong. You gonna tell me that teams are the same in November that they were in September?
What if you drop the first game of the season to a decent team then go on a winning streak where you beat the crap out of everyone else you play? You going to tell me that’s not better than beating the crap out of everyone you play up until the last game of the season where you lose to a decent team?
