I'm glad he is staying and I hope Alabama wins the national championship because there defense overpowered and crushed the other teams along the way. That's what I hope. It would be great publicity for Pruitt and Tennessee if it goes that way. It will be mostly during the dead period anyway.

I'm not sure what their recruiting class looks like but I would see this as some free marketing for your new coach, especially if the defense plays good.

This is a power move by Fulmer. Gumps will win the NC and the main story will be how Tennessee has a NC-caliber head coach.
Once again Fulmer makes the Gump puppets dance.

Kirby didn't get the Auburn job in 2012 for the same reason.

Of course it's the right thing to do---and
Tennessee can't buy the publicity and reach
potential recruits as it will with the numerous
stories and mentions of
"UT's new coach and his last game(s)at Alabama."
With Pruitt it's simple:
"I have a commitment to the kids where I sat
in their homes and recruited them to go to the
University of Alabama. it's about those guys, it's
about the kids in this business. That's why we're
here."

Pruitt isn’t gonna burn bridges to Bama. Whether his first shot at HC works out or not, there’s a good chance he ends up back in Tuscaloosa one of these days.

Meh. Everybody knew Kirby was going to Georgia when the opportunity presented itself.
I know UT was beyond desperate to finally have a coach but they look cuckish having their incoming guy working to help Bama win a Natty.

Worked out well for Auburn

So Tennessee could say their coach was in a meaningful Bowl in 2017

?
Gus and Kirby have so far accomplished the same things. Kirby’s path at UGA was easier due to a more stable roster.

This is the gentlemanly thing to do, and the right thing to do. If the SEC starts the trend of taking each other's coaches while they're involved and post season, demanding that they relinquish their current coaching position, it could get ugly. What goes around comes around.

I doubt you would want your incoming head coach to help Florida or Georgia Tech win a national title while your team sat back twiddling its thumbs.

To be fair, he’s most likely got one game left anyway.

Anyone know if his other staff members are doing the same?
Also, have his contract details come out yet? I really dont care about how much he's getting paid as it's not my money. I care about buyout terms both if he leaves or we cut him. If there are proper expectations set etc. Kinda seems auburn did a decent job of that with malzhans, if I understood it right. Iirc cause it was during the UT debacle, so all other hires took a back bench to UT. Which I dont get cause according to tRant UT is a "has been."

Why would bama want him to coach is my question. His mind is on the UT job not bama D.
