Why is UT allowing Pruitt to coach in playoffs?

UT fans, you cool with watching your new head coach that your paying millions coach for Bama when he could be earning his money in Knoxville?

I’m a bit surprised. Your not some D3 school, when you hire your coach he should be on campus. How does it help you to watch him help your rival win a title?

Do you think he will intentionally try to lose it? Will Saban fire him after Clemson?

This board asked the same thing when Smart did it. In hindsight, it was a class move from a classy guy.

Kirby did the same. Pissed alot of folks off.
And that was before the early signing period existed.

Strikes me a bit different to allow him to coach your main rival vs a team you play once every 7 years.

1)because they're scared he'll back out like everyone else.

2)he won't be part of a final 4 team for a while, if ever.

You're assuming Tennessee had a choice. They were already desperate. If they really wanted Pruitt and he said he wanted to coach through the playoffs then he coaches through the playoffs.

honestly..what do you think the alternatives are? Pruitt straight up told UT he was coaching through the playoffs bottom line. So UT could either say "ok, that's fair", or pass on him and continue searching.

Do you really think UT fans would rather be scraping the counrtry for their 20th choice today rather than going ahead and having a coach locked in and thinking about his hires?

If anything ut should be glad Pruitt wants to finish up coaching kids he helped recruit to Bama. Will help him in long run with parents of ut recruits.

As usual, a shallow minded thread from The Farm.
Who would want to hire a guy who'll up and leave you at the drop of a hat for another job when they've committed to their present one? I guess that's ok down in Auburn, but not so much at quality programs.
Old adage: If a person will steal FOR you, they'll steal FROM you.

Georgia isn’t Bama’s hated rival like UT is though.

It's a win-win for UT.

If bama's defense does well: "that's the new head coach with a brilliant defensive mind"

If bama's defense sucks: "his mind wasn't in it, too busy planning at UT"

Everyone already knows where he will coach next year and he's already recruiting.

Doing the right thing trumps the rivalry bullshite. Players committed to him, so he's staying committed to them....an act that is obviously foreign to the Auburn cult.

Also, consider other possible candidates. Morris is going to Arkansas. Pruitt, Tucker, and Venables are all coaching in the playoffs. They really had no choice, unless they really wanted to go with Steele...and I'm guessing they didn't.

he's recruiting for vols all the way up to the dead period that starts just before the new signing period and ends 2 days after the championship game. they'll mention him and the tennessee job a few times on a national stage. unless he goes the way of kevin steele vs west virginia, it's a win/win
