Where exactly? Certainly not anywhere on offense.

How about Venables as a realistic candidate? He is youngish and is widely considered one of the best DC's out there. He could be our Kirby.

We need experience, not another on the job training coach.

My suggestion...

With the players we have on offense, we MUST stay with the same system or it will be an extremely difficult transition.

We need to fly to San Fransisco and offer a blank check to Chip Kelly. It wouldn't be impossible to pry him away from the 49ers. Saban and Harbaugh came back to the college game. Chip will eventually. We need to be camping in San Fransisco and refuse to take no for an answer.

Petrino is on track to win the national championship with the Heisman winner. He's not available. Kiffin may be available, but he is a wild card considering his good years at UT but bad ones at USC and unknown abilities hiding behind a Saban recruited team.

Auburn is headed to 3-9 and the coach, thanks to Jacobs can't be fired. And he will not quit. And he will never quit treating real games like they're scrimmages. And he is probably Auburn's only hope.

foxsports.com: Why firing Gus Malzahn might not be the right answer for Auburn
quote:

Over the next few days, there won't be a more compelling conversation in college football than the future of Gus Malzahn at Auburn. With a 1-2 record, a game against LSU looming and an impossible SEC slate from there, it seems to be a matter of when Malzahn will be handed his walking papers, not if.

But while the move seems to be inevitable, it also could be the wrong decision. Firing Malzahn likely won't get Auburn any closer to its goal of winning a national championship.

Auburn fans reading this might think I'm crazy, and I understand why. Malzahn is now 1-2 this year and 11-13 since starting the 2014 season 5-0. Even worse is that the Tigers' offense -- which is supposed to be this team's bread and butter -- has scored a grand total of 29 points in losses to Clemson and Texas A&M to start the season. Considering they averaged 39 points a game during the Tigers' title game run in 2013, that is obviously a massive turn in the wrong direction.

But here is the counter argument: If you've watched the Tigers closely this year, they're actually not a bad team. The defense was dynamite against Clemson and Texas A&M, and if Auburn had a more manageable schedule to open the year (like that of Michigan, Washington or other relatively untested teams) maybe they would have time to iron out the kinks in their offense.

Instead they had a brutal schedule to start and play a brutal schedule going forward, leaving them no margin for error in the SEC West, the toughest division in college football. Let's just say Auburn played in the SEC East instead of the West, the much easier division. Wouldn't they be the second- or third-best team there and look much better than they have? It seems likely.

Unfortunately, the Tigers are in the West, and because of it Malzahn's clock is ticking. While firing Malzahn seems like the easy solution, here's the problem: Unless the Tigers went out and hired Art Briles (which, as things stand, seems unlikely), what guarantee is there that they get a better coach than Malzahn? There isn't one.

We will not go 3-9, 5-7 possible.

New President of University by June (Lady from Houston possible) who cares about football. Then fire JJ and bring in a real coach. The problem is JJ.

Herman isn't coming to auburn. Neither is Petrino. Fedora is a legit option. Lane kiffin is a huge no go. Briles has too much baggage.

I dont think Gogue will fire Jacobs....i feel like he'll let the next president decide on that. We've got another year of the clown show.

dont give a frick who we hire at this point

we are running the same mickey mouse shite that didnt work last year

we now have a QB situation again according to Gus

that means if SW starts, JFIII is coming in next series

what a fricking joke

Hey Gus, how about this? Don't run up the middle twice in a row then throw screens to the left or right? Do we have any other plays?

Oh, you want to run the QB read? How about we stop running that bull shite with out white boy QB who is NO THREAT TO RUN because you never let him keep it.

Oh, JFIII is the runner? How about we not run EVERY SINGLE TIME JFIII is in the game? Can he pass the ball? Beyond 3 yards?

God damn im so sick and tired of this inept offense

WE SCORED 10 POINTS

frick THAT LAST TD BECAUSE THAT WAS A GIFT FROM A&M WHEN THEY REALIZED WE ARE JUST WANTING TO RUN 4 YARDS WHILE DOWN 3 SCORES

NOT ONLY did we score 10 points.

We never even made it to legatron's range for a field goal.

How is this possible you ask?

BECAUSE WE RUN THE SAME 5 PLAYS ALL DAMN GAME

My fricking 13 year old nephew calls better plays in NCAA Football than Gus can coach on the field.

frick Gus

frick this shite arse offense he has.

frick Jay Jacobs.

I was coming to type a very similar rant, thanks for saving me the time. Unfortunately, I think we are stuck with Gus through this year. The dolt of an AD gave him such a ridiculous buyout that we don't really have an option. Maybe we could put the jumbotron on eBay?

I think we need to get rid of the idiot that locked down Gus with the buyout. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen either. My forecast calls for 5th to 7th in the West for the next two years and let the new president solve the JJ debacle.
