2000 Bama

For Arkansas, preseason AP ranking of #10 headed into 2012 season. Finished season 4-8. Not even going to brag about beating Auburn that year.

I would say its probably 2010 for Alabama, many expected us to win the SEC and the natty, but we went 10-3. Which all in all isnt bad but not what was expected

Alabama?
2000 would be hard to beat.
Preseason top 3
Finished with 3 wins

2000, started off #3. It was ALL downhill after the kickoff return against UCLA...

2003 and honestly that was all on Tuberville. The talent was there based on 2004 results. He made his worst coordinator hire by making Hugh Nall the OC.

2011 - Started the season ranked 7th, ended UR (7-6)

2000 for Bama. Returned the first punt of the season for a td and never had a reason to cheer again.
We lost to southern miss 21-0 and it was waaaay worse than that score and a central Florida team that had been beaten by 21 by the Akron zips had us down 38-24 with 9 minutes left.
Dubose shouldn't have been fired. He should have been exiled.

Undoubtedly 2008. That season began the "Georgia is underachievers" narrative.

I know that the bama bandwagon is so loaded down that sparks are flying out the back, but it's really hard to believe that a "bama fan" couldn't even remember as far back as 2000.

Was this the year of the lost 1st half leads?

4-8 First losing season since 79.
Cancelled the first game due to weather. Start out 4-0. Complete shitfest from there on out.
My liver hurts just thinking about it.

It seems like the best answer given the question. #1 in preseason and lost the 3 of the biggest games we played in embarrassing fashion. I don't really remember another year where we were expected to do so well... 2010 we weren't expected to do anything and we didn't. I mean we were ranked to start, but there was no expectations nationally for us to do well.

2013 UF, preseason ranked 9th, finished 4-8. Lost final 7 games of season.
Worst season in 30+ years.
