Missing on Browning makes me sad.

Sad and angry at ohio state. Did I ever mention much I hate ohio state.

I truly despise and hate ohio state. More than my hated for Notre Dame, Texas and Auburn.

Less then 10rc

I honestly don't know. We seem to want Wright very badly, though.

I would pay a pretty penny to read our staffs evaluations, and see their rankings of the nations players.

I recently watched Wright, Gibbs, and McKinney JR seasons.

My personal evals:

Gibbs and McKinney are really close for my money.

Gibbs plays both ways for his HS, and looks the part on either side of the ball. Bama loves to find DB's with Gibbs dual threat ability.

Gibbs and McKinney both appear to play (as of their JR film) stronger/more physical than Wright.

Gibbs especially does a really good job of knocking WR's off their routes, and jamming them at the LOS. Long arms, great feet, hips, vision, eye discipline... great looking prospect IMO. (especially good eye discipline for a two way HS player)

McKinney really fits the "savage" persona that Bama has rolling on the D right now. Got a lot of swag/nasty to his game. I think McKinney is the most sudden/quick-twitch/instinctive of the bunch. This dude is an absolute ball hawk. If you like watching DB's play Qb's like a fiddle, and literally bait Qb's into throwing them the ball go watch McKinneys JR film. I have no idea how many picks he ended up with that season, but I was really impressed.

Like Gibbs, McKinney is natural with the ball in his hands, and can house it from anywhere.

Wright looks like a great athlete, and I think the other two play stronger because they are stronger. Gibbs and McKinney have some weight on Wright. (again as of JR film) Wright isn't scared to come down and lay the wood though. Not as good with the ball as the other two in my very humble opinion. I do believe a big plus for Wright is between his ears which would not exactly come across in his HS film, but could be a difference maker at the collegiate level.

If youre still reading I would summarize like so:

I think the "safest" pick of the bunch would be McKinney. He is so instinctual and physically talented on the defensive side of the ball its hard to imagine he could be a miss.

I think Gibbs could be one of those dudes that if it all clicks once he becomes a full time DB could be a really special player. If I had to guess I would say Gibbs may have the highest ceiling but that is a really hard call between him and McKinney.

Has Bama missed on McKinney and Gibbs, and Wright is the next best thing ? Or does the staff know something about Wright most others do not ? Or do they know something about Gibbs or McKinney ? I have no idea.

Like I said I would LOVE to read the evals from the professionals. Talent evals and projections are fascinating to me.

It should be like classified files where all the evals of every class are released by all staffs six years after the fact. It would be really interesting to see how different staffs evaled different players.

One thing for certain if Bama offers you a scholarship to play DB you can prolly ball.

Very good analysis. Thanks.

Per Rodney Orr on Gibbs. EVERYBODY close to Gibbs seems to think he goes to Bama. But he also says that UGa folks are very confident in landing him. So he says that perplexes him a bit, as he isn't really sure where they are getting their confidence on him.

I do know that he supposedly had a great senior year, and blew away Pruitt when he went to watch one of his games. I just don't know which one is viewed as higher on the board.

As for Shaun Wade, there are apparently questions about his speed. I, for one, hope we sign him (if we CAN turn him, which I'm not saying for certain that we can). But I'm not just arbitrarily singling out Wade (or Devonta Smith, for that matter) to say that "we didn't want him" in the event that they don't come our way. This has been said about Wade for about a month now from those that I listen to. It's been said about Devonta Smith since before he was showing any real interest in L6U (that we might only take one more WR, and Ruggs has vaulted to #1 on the board after blowing the doors off of his senior season).

That's my hope. I've still just seen no evidence that we're pressing hard for Wade, though. But, man, I wish we would.

If we can flip Wade, we need to do it. If he gets here and his speed isn't great, then move him to safety.

Who do you think is the primary target at corner?

What I think OSU may be doing with Wade now. Switching Okudah who early in the process was a S and now may be a corner and Wade was a CB and may turn into a S

McKinney had an outstanding Senior season. I asked Hank South today if we had a shot at him and he said McKinney told him our staff has had more contact with him now than they did when he was a commit.

I watched DeAngelo Gibbs against IMG earlier this season and wasn't very impressed. It may have been a one game thing, but fans of other teams felt the same way. In the initial rankings of this class Gibbs was seen as a Top 10 player. After his performance at the Opening this summer his ranking plummeted. Now he may have turned things around, but I haven't seen him get any bumps from the sites this season.

Shaun Wade, on the other hand, played lights out against IMG. He looked like the best player on the field and with those two rosters that's saying something. I didn't see him having any trouble staying with the IMG receivers speed wise, and they have some good ones.
