What makes the perfect burger (condiments) etc. Or who makes the best burger for those that eat at restaurants?

Mayo AND mustard. Cheese, onion, pickle, bacon, and jalapeños. No lettuce or tomatoes. If I wanted a salad I would've ordered a salad.

It's a balancing act.

Cheese compliments the beef type flavors.

Tomatoes for acid. Pickles are acceptable. Mustard overpowers the burger.

Onions are a must. Lettuce for a little coolness to cut down a little fattiness.

Good bun. Maybe bacon and you set.

The first burger ever made in this country did not consist of ketchup.

Fact.

Start with a 1/3 patty. Next have a toasted buttery bun. Then instead of mayo, mustard and ketchup, add barbecue sauce and ranch. Put in 3-4 slices of lightly done bacon, 2 slices of cheddar cheese, and order a salad on the side if you lettuce and tomato.

I have burgers either one of two ways:

Lettuce
Tomato
Mayo
Cheese
pickles
onions

OR

Guac
Cheese
lettuce
tomato
fried egg (over medium, optional)
mayo (optional)

Both are delicious.

Locally (Tallahassee), it's tough to beat Wells Brothers and the 'Gator Hater' burger. If you're ever in town and craving a hamburger, Wells Brothers is a must.

Some of the best burgers in the South.

Real beef. Fresh tomato, not big on lettuce but if it's fresh it's good, freshly sliced (not diced) grilled onions, ketchup and mustard OR a good assume. Put mayo on the bun and then grill it (trust me.) A good quality bun can also make a huge difference. Let cheese melt a little.

I cooked burgers professionally for 3 years in college, so I know what I'm talking about.

I don't get lettuce or tomatoes on burgers. Feel like it waters it down too much.

Adding a fried egg is always a game changer.

My northern friends convinced me to put peanut butter on a burger and it actually turned out really well, despite my previous protests.
