Which rivalry do y'all think is bigger? Michigan and Ohio State or Auburn and Alabama?
To me it appears that Michigan and Ohio State is a bigger deal to the players than Auburn and Alabama is to their players. It appears to me that the Auburn and Alabama rivalry is a bigger deal to the fans than the players.
I'm leaning towards Michigan and Ohio State as the bigger rivalry

it's bigger for whichever rivalry is more relevant to the ultimate prize. Bama/Auburn wins that for the time being.

The real question is, how long before the LSU/A&M rivalry surpasses both?

Auburn/Bama is the biggest rivalry in college football.

Bama/Auburn is the bigger deal. Hell, Army/Navy is bigger than Michigan/OSU.

They've played 111 times... From 1893 till 1948 AU & UA only played 12 times. No games from 1907 till 1948...

Right now AU-Bama by a LOT.

Just look at the tv ratings. IB is probably watched by 5x as many people. Maybe more. 2013 set all time ratings for a college game at the time.

Isn't even comparable right now.

Traditionally OSU/UM. But the Big Ten beats the SEC in just about anything involving "tradition." The Rust Belt is not what it used to be though. That game has not mattered since 2006. The Iron Bowl is by far the best rivalry today. It may change again with Harbaugh/Meyer though.

All the "big" rivalries are the same. People think there is something a little more special about their neck of the woods, but there really isn't.

UM/OSU over 100 years of playing each other.

But, I would watch Bama/Aub if they were on at the same time slot.

SEC match up any day .

It only matters where you're from or where you're living. As far as nationally, we all live in the moment, so whichever game presents more relevance at the moment is bigger.

Remember when FSU Miami was must see TV? Now with Miami tapered off, who can even recall any details of those games the past decade?

Of course, too, LSU rantards would rather the perceived honor of best rivalry game not go to Bama, but two Northern schools.

2013 mattered but the Iron Bowl needs to matter on a conference and national level more often.

The Iron Bowl gets bigger TV ratings
= More National Appeal

The winner of the Iron Bowl has played in the National Championship Game 5 of the last 6 years
= More Important Game

So, by your own logic, the one that is more important to 200 some odd people (players plus coaches) is a bigger rivalry than the one that is more important to several million people (fans).
