Bama will win because every single player in the starting 22 is better than auburn's 22. There is literally not one single position in which auburn
fields a better player. That, my friends, is what's known as a mismatch.

Fine. AU gives up 22 pts / game and 28 pts / sec game. Happy now?

Unless Bama's players are matching up against the same position your point is moot. As good as Bama's DL is Auburn's OL is just as good. As good as Bama's LBs are Auburn's RBs are just as good. Auburn's passing game is average but Bama has no pass rush and average CBs. As good as Bama's passing is Auburn's Pass Rush and CBs are just as good. Its all about the matchup not whether your LBs are better than ours.

We got a bag full of gimmicks comin' which will hide the 22 mis-matches.

Probably true.

Nope

Auburn's passing game is average
You're overselling it.

Bama has no pass rush and average CBs
We do struggle to get pressure unless we blitz. Our CB's are above average, but not outstanding.

Nope.

You need to win the line of scrimmage on offense and hit some big plays in the passing game off of play action or trickery. When you're on defense, you need to win first down. Our offense doesn't convert third downs well against legitimate competition. If you let us control the LOS when we're on offense, it will get ugly.

And there you go. Auburn's CBs, OL, RBs, DEs, Kicker and Punter are all better than Bama's. Two Bama agreeing don't change facts.

Down 14-0 early at Kyle Field was pretty much a do or die offensive possession. Plus, last years' LSU game (at Red Stick) and the second half of the SECCG vs UGa were crucial pressure situations. Almost this entire offense has been through the crucible and responded.

But, there's no doubt JHS will be electric.

Bama's punter is 2nd in the conference. Auburn's 6th.

Bama's kicker is 4th in the conference. Auburn's is 9th.

Fact is, most of Bama's games were early blowouts while Auburn's were close. That effects the play calling and which players are in the game.

Does it really Beer? I'll remember that when you remove defensive scores from AU's point total.

BeerBryant, you just can't keep your stories straight can you?

As great as you are trying to make out your passing game to be it falls apart when teams get even the slightest pressure. Also Auburn is averaging more yards per attempt than Bama. Auburn just doesn't pass because they don't have to.

That's all fine and dandy, but I have already mentioned it.

We are 30th in the country in points per game given up.

This is hitting the nail on the head I think. And I do expect our passing game to have some new quick passes this week like we had in 2009 with Adams and Zachary that won't require a downfield throw. Maybe that will help offset some of the passing inaccuracy/challenges we have.

Your defensive comment about AU is spot on.

"Hope - is a very dangerous thing..."

I don't think our passing game is great. We need to either be successful running the ball to set up favorable defenses, or be facing a weak defensive backfield. But saying we "fall apart at the slightest pressure" is a bit of an "auburnized" view.

And your last statement would make any reasonable person feel ashamed and stupid for letting that one out.
