Is Stanford this years Notre Dame?
With all the talking heads discussing Stanford and how they play a physical brand of football sounds a lot like how they over-hyped Notre Dame last year.
Is anyone really concerned about losing to Stanford?

Did anybody watch Stanford v. ND last year? I know it's just one game, but seriously.

Stanford can beat SEC teams.

Does their inside linebacker have an imaginary girlfriend who died?

There are teams with talent like Texas where if they were firing on all cylinders I would not feel comfortable playing them. Stanford however is not that team

January 2, 2012 vs Oklahoma State Fiesta Bowl L 38–41 OT
January 3, 2011 vs Virginia Tech Orange Bowl W 40–12
December 31, 2009 vs Oklahoma Sun Bowl L 27–31
Serious question. Has Stanford played a SEC team in the BCS MNC era? When was the last time Stanford played a SEC team in football?

They haven't dominated the good teams they've played. They do ok, but that's it.

I like Stanford's team and coach. They're definitely on the short of teams that can beat the SEC champion

Man, I just don't see it.
I see a team very similar to ND. Sound, fundamental football don't cut it against SEC teams that have stacked top 10 recruiting classes over several years. I think we'll have to await a USC or an Ohio State or Texas that is on top of its game. Or perhaps FSU can put it all together one of these years.

Stanford could beat the lower SEC teams and make a it a game against some of the better ones. But, they couldn't win the SEC.

This is the wrong kind of team to "dethrone" the SEC in my opinion. Trying to match up power on power with most SEC teams usually doesn't work.
I still think it will be a team like an Oregon or Clemson with a high powered, HUNH offense that just has a brilliant game where everything is clicking that has the best chance to win a BCSCG or playoff against the SEC.

No, but when we do, I hope it's to a team like Stanford. Or Wisconsin.
I'd prefer not to lose it to Ohio State. Or Oregon.
Or other effeminate programs.

I love that Stanford plays physical. The Oregon Dline will be the most physical dline in the Pac - 12.

I just don't see the hype is all i'm trying to say. Who else in the Pac-12 play physical football?

The front sevens in the league this year are the best that I've seen on paper for the Pac in a very long time.

I don't feat Stanford.
Georgia Tech shut U.S.C. down.
Oregon shutout Arizona while Stanford gave up nearly 500 yards passing and 48 points.
I saw the Oregon/Stanford game live and have watched replays. Stanford slowed Oregon down, but I wouldn't say they dominated Oregon. Mariota missed a few open receivers, and we all remember that run down the sidelines that would have been a touchdown if Black Mamba had thrown a block on the safety. Let's see if Stanford can do better than 17-14 OT against Oregon.

The question mark with Stanford is their offense. That offense will keep anybody in the game.
Bama has way too much weaponry on offense for Stanford to win.
Oregon is more athletic and bigger than Stanford on the DL and we have a better secondary. Stanford has our LB core beat but by the time the MNC game rolls around it won't be by much. We just need our guys to get experience.

Stanford has a chance, but it's not great. I wouldn't bet on them doing it.

Yes Stanford can.
Don't bring up the Stanford vs ND game because Stanford changed QBs shortly after, and were instantly a very good team. If they met ND after the QB switch, they beat ND by 14 points very easily.
