If only divisional games counted here is what would happen:

There would be far more ties (like the 3 way scenario that would have occured in the West last year between LSU/Bama/A&M and Florida/UGA/South Carolina in the East), then the crying would move toward how the tie is broken.

If it were BCS rankings, some other poll, etc. there would still be crying.

I'm not against it.

I suspect you think Alabama fans are opposed to it due to the restless nights LSU fans spend frightened they are at their peak, yet 2nd place seems to be the height corndogs will ever attain.

Be proud of where the corndog nation is. Stop dreaming of ever taking the top spot in the west, let alone the conference. No amount of fuzzy math will place corndogs at the top.

Historically speaking Auburn is above LSU in Football. That's something you can ponder in your fitful dreams tonight. You were 2 points better than them last year.

My question is this, why do Bama fans oppose counting only divisional games? Both teams have to play the same teams, and it won't matter that Bama ducks all the good SEC East teams all the time.

Since 1992 (the year divisions were created) The combined overall record of teams LSU has played from the East in the regular season is 456-301-2. The combined record of teams from the East Bama has played is 432-321-1. The one opponent each has played all 21 years is UF and UT. UF is 209-61-1 over those years and UT is 180-82. Florida has been on average about 1.4 victories a year greater than UT over that timeframe and that makes up more than the entire difference in overall records of East opponents. Take out UF and LSU's remaining East opponents record is 247-240-1. Bama's is 252-239-1 if you remove UT.

So to summarize LSU fans are welcome to continue to bitch about having to play UF every year, but nothing else they complain about in regards to scheduling is historically accurate.

I don't think that anyone is scared of playing each other. I feel that Coach Miles had to say something or things would never change. If you don't like how something is being done, then you have to speak up. In 2010 there were 6 teams that had a bye week before they played Bama, and Coach Saban complained, and luckily that was changed, so I completely understand why Coach Miles spoke up. To me that's his job to try and get every advantage that he can for his team, and I expect Coach Saban to complain if things aren't going our way. It doesn't matter if someone calls us criers or boo hoo, it just matters that we do what we can.

Not trying to be argumentative, I'm legitimately curious: can you link me to posts by Bama fans saying we shouldn't use the divisional record?

I notice OP never responded to this

I don't think most Bama fans really care one way or the other; I know I don't. That said, I don't think it will happen because it will diminish the importance of cross-division games and with the SEC Network launching in a year, that's the last thing the SEC office wants.

and people were bitching a few weeks ago about the board being unbearable- now it's basically all schedule related all the time.

Why is this even an arguement? If they change it to West vrs West and East vrs East, I am sure Bama fans would get on board. Why should they concern themselves with something that doesn't exist at this present time. I think its a horrible idea to change that part of it anyway. The East games would be nothing more than OOC games for the most part. It doesn't make since to play a bunch of meaningless games. As for as the, we have to play Florida every year thing, I don't want them to change it. Its one of the biggest games of the year. I would rather watch LSU vrs Florida/Georgia over LSU vrs Vandy/UT/Kentucky/S Car/Missouri any day of the week. Besides, Tennessee was one of the top dogs not to long ago. It cycles. Clearly I would like to forget the 80's and 90's for LSU. UT fans probably thought it unfair that Florida got a weak LSU team while they had to play Bama.

Historically speaking Tennessee has always had the much better football program than Florida, this was true even back in 1992 when the permanent division rivals were formed.

It's not Alabama's fault UT went into the toilet.

This question is invalid. Good try, straw man.

And yes, these all apply:

I don't care and I haven't seen many who have. Plus when has that really ever screwed LSU for the SECCG? USCe is the only team that I can rememberthat beat all their division teams , list to the cross teams and didn't make the SECCG

WHY are LSU fans so fricking scared of UF?

Wow...another whiney assed LSU fan crying about the schedule? Who would have thought it?

Is this similar to Saban crying to the SEC office that year about BAMA having to play too many games against teams who had a bye the week before? Just asking!!!
