There is no way all three of those players come back. Unless something drastic happens in the next couple of months.

Floyd is gone for sure. Elam most likely.

Easley is probably back, although he might leave as well.

Jenkins and Reed could also go pro.

I am so glad that you are totally in tune with the A&M players.

Did you consider that both Joeckel and Matthews have brothers on the team and that Matthews has the chance to start with that sophmore center who is .. oh yeah ... his brother?

The fact is that both have expressed a desire to return but the $$ will definitely have a say in it.

Right now from everything I have heard (and not just from Aggie sources but people who know the family) I think that Matthews is about 80% returning.

Joeckel not sure but I think he is probably 50/50 right now and I think Moore is gone.

LSU loses nearly nothing on the offensive side. Injuries on the OL during 2012 meant they had to plug in some underclassmen far earlier than intended. The OL play suffered because of it early on. The starting LT is expected back from injury and the two young guards are now playing very well. The OL is expected to be a strong point for LSU in 2013. Out of the RBs only Spencer Ware is expected to go pro. Starting FB and freshman RB Jeremy Hill will return. All the WR's will be back except Russel Shepard. They are expected to pick up a tall Juco WR. Mettenberger will also be back.

The defensive side is full of question marks. They will lose their two All American DEs and possibly a starting DT. There will absolutely be a drop off along the line. They will likely have to replace one CB and one Safety. The dismissal of Mathieu forced Chavis to start some freshmen CBs in 2012. Those freshman should improve with a year of starting time.
LB play should be a strength of the defense in 2013 as LSU had a monster recruiting haul at LB in 2012 and many of those kids were already seeing the field.

Overall the offense should be the best that LSU has fielded since 2007.

The defense will likely be better in the secondary but see a drop off along the line.

I just find it quite funny that you Aggies won't even consider the possibility that your offensive line could be a problem area next year.

It's all pancakes and roses in College Station.

It was the worst game we played all year. They went 8-4 and now they are looking at a bunch of JUCO quarterbacks. They lost their last two games of the year and they almost lost to Kansas.

With teams like LSU, Alabama, Florida, Georiga, and South Carolina it's hard to tell if they will be better or worse. Those teams are very solid in what they do and they have talent.

What I mean by that is you knew this season Alabama would be solid running the football and playing solid defense. What you didn't know is Amari Cooper and TJ Yeldon.

You saw LSU lose most of their O line and a good running back this year. They were still very good. Now think about next season. They will run the football and play good defense. But what happens if one or three of those talented kids they recruited emerge as a star type of player. Now you're back to looking at them as a championship caliber team.

IMHO

quote:

Records may not reflect it, but:

Bama - better
LSU - better
Auburn - better
Arkansas - same
OM - better
TAMU - same
MSU - worse

East:

Tennessee - same
Mizzou - better
USCe - worse
UK - same
Vandy - better
Florida - better
Georgia - worse

UGA will probably lose 2 of 3 to UF, LSU, SCar. 9-3 or 10-2 is my prediction.

We'll be better if we get moore, matthews, and joeckel to return. Anything else and we are probably going to be the same

Not claiming to be an insider by any means but they have been telling people they are going to stay. As for Floyd I think he wants to go 1st of 2nd rd which he is currently not predicted to make.

I am not convinced LSU will be better. I want to see if Minter and Logan decide to stay first.

I'm going to guess Mizzou will look like Tennessee next year assuming our offense is healthy.

The offense gets All Big 12 RB Henry Josey back. We don't lose anyone productive outside TJ Moe, but DGB should be able to easily fill that void.

On defense however, we lose a lot. There is no one to replace Sheldon Richardson. Our defense started out strong, but SEC coaches started attacking the holes in the defense and our defensive staff never responded with adjustments.

The one bright spot is a weaker schedule.

I love how everyone is just assuming that UF's offense won't get better, and their defense will get worse because of juniors leaving.

Way to make general assumptions. Yep our offense will not improve at all next season.

Agreed. Florida was not supposed to be any good this season -- and their offense wasn't. But they had one hell of a season thanks to defense and special teams. Maybe the defense regresses a little, but the offense should be much improved.

UF will be a better team in 2013, although it will be awfully difficult to match an 11-1 record. UF will be the favorite in the East, followed by USC and UGA (in that order).

I'm very optimistic a/b USC's chances next year. We lose a lot on defense but have talent waiting. The D-Line will be one of the best in the nation. LB is problematic.

The offense will be a/b the same. We won't have Lattimore but we haven't had him for half of our games the past two seasons anyways. The QB situation will be fluid as befits a Spurrier run team.

UF and A&M fans are deluding themselves. Some of those guys, if not a lot of them, are headed to the NFL. Better just to assume they are and then be pleasantly surprised if they don't.
