You need to do better than link NFL projections (projections we've mulled over for weeks) for two of our players to convince us or anyone reasonable that the seam is ripping.

It's 3 of your players and if those projections are accurate, aTm has -5% chance of keeping any of them. You are confused about what is best for them vs. what is best for you and aTm. They should, and probably will, make the best decision for themselves.

IMO our defense may drop slightly, but our offense should improve over 2012, minus any unforeseen major injuries...

The biggest hit to any unit on defense is our entire 2-deep at LB as well as our starter at Spur is graduating. At LB, we have some talented players to step up that the coaching staff is high on (Cooper, T.J. Holloman, Kaiwan Lewis, Mason Harris), but they were all either RS frosh or true frosh this year, and they are very inexperienced. We will also have some pretty talented kids incoming in this class (Turner and Bryant specifically) who may factor into the depth there. DeVonte Holloman was a big contributor for us at Spur - IMO he wasn't as effective as Antonio Allen was, but was close - but we'll have Golightly, Diggs, and Roberts to compete for the spot. None of them are as big as Holloman, but are all quicker...

Losing Swearinger will also be a huge loss, and I'm not sure who we'd replace him with, but we have plenty of depth at both the FS and SS positions, so we'll find someone.

Our corner spots are secure with both starters returning in Hampton and Legree, and with depth behind them in Christian, Elder, Moody, McWilliams, and incoming Martin. SS is also solid with Brison Williams returning as well. Overall despite the question mark at Free, our secondary will be solid and experienced with good depth for 2013...

The DL should also be strong again next season. We lose a top DE in Taylor, but Sutton should more than fill his spot opposite Clowney, and we have good depth in Dixon, English, Green, and incoming former Bama DE Alfie Hill. We lose DT Jerideau, but have Surratt, as well as Dixon Jr. and Dukes to take the NT spot as well as back up returner Quarles. We'll still be using the "Rabbit" package on passing downs, so the interior DTs will get substantial rest during games any ways...

I say due to the big loss at LB, Spur, and FS we may be a bit softer in the middle next season. Our front 4 and secondary should still be pretty strong. I see possibly a top-30 or 40 defense next season, instead of a top-10 or 15...

The offense should improve enough to compensate for the defensive drop IMO:

The obvious loss for next season will of course be RB Lattimore, and there's no denying that. He brings leadership to the team in more ways than just when he runs the football. But we've had to deal with not having ML in the lineup more than our share unfortunately: we are 10-1 overall in games where Lattimore did not dress over the past 3 seasons, the lone loss being to a top-10 ranked Arkansas at their place in 2011.

We will bring back Wilds who redshirted this season, and also return Davis, Carson, and will have RS-Fr. Kendrick Salley. A number of those have dealt with ACL injuries, so we'll need to see how they have recovered. Carson's was back in '11, and he's dealt with a hand injury this season, so he's had time to fully heal his knee. Wilds had an ankle injury earlier this season and has been 100% and dressed for the past 2-3 games, but they kept him down...

We lose all-time program record-holder in consecutive starts and overall starts in C T.J. Johnson, and the loss of experience there is big, but we have several candidates to replace him. All other OL starters return, including 1st-time starters this season in OTs Robinson and Shell, and OG Patrick. Their experience this season will replace the lost experience of Johnson's.

We lose starting TE Cunningham who was a big surprise as a receiver the past 2 seasons, but we are over-stocked IMO at the TE with even better talent potentially in Anderson, Adams, Owens, and Rainey.

We only graduate 1 WR in D.L. Moore, and he was mostly a 1 token reception a game receiver the past 2 seasons anyways. All our top receivers return in Sanders and Ellington, and we have huge depth at the position. Shaq Roland did not meet the expectations Gamecock Nation had for him this season, but he's gained experience and RS freshmen Jody Fuller and Kwinton Smith join him on the active roster...

At QB, we should only continue to improve. Shaw will be a senior and if he can stay healthy, has a better chance at a successful season in '13 than he did in '12. Still, he is a very efficient passer who didn't move the offense very well this season but still found ways to score points. He should return to the effective rusher he was in '11 if he can remain healthy, but now we have a very experienced and confident back-up in Thompson that we didn't think we had when this season started...

They will do whats best for them, if that means they leave, then the Aggie family will thank them for their work and will cheer them on in their NFL careers. Fact of the matter is that no one other than those kids, their families, and possibly the coaching staff have any idea what direction they will go.

That being said, if we lose Luke and Jake, yes it will hurt our o-line play, its ridiculous to argue otherwise. The question is how much, and what is it really going to do to our offensive production. I highly doubt that we're going to stick in some no talent arse clown walk-ons, there are quite a few D-1 o-linemen walking around campus, not NFL talent, but good players. So defenses will be able to get more pressure on Johnny, so Johnny will have to get outside the pocket more, where he is fricking deadly.

The argument can also be made that Johnny improves as a passer and is able to read D's better, get the ball out sooner, and not have to rely on his legs as much. Couple that with a better stable of running backs and you might see a different, but as effective, offense next year.

All in all, I don't see the A&M offense collapsing next year.

productivity = same/slight improvement

South Carolina will be better next year. Florida will be the same or better. Georgia I expect to drop some because of what they lose after this year. Tennessee, who knows. Seems they only have one way to go.

Sumlin has already said that they have 1 junior that is slated for the draft is coming back. That is confirmed on an Aggie paid site.

1 down, 2 to go.

Ole miss - about the same
Miss State - worse
Auburn - better

Georgia - worse

SEC west is going to be ridiculous next year.

SEC east should be UF vs USCe, as of today.

A&M gets an incomplete for now. Expect Matthews to come back and play with his brother, but Sherman left some talent in the pipeline on OL even if both of the tackles leave. Ced O. was graded out the highest of that entire OL class by Sherman. And the center is another Matthews. The drop off won't be as catastrophic as some predict.

Downgrade at OL
Upgrade at WR - the incoming talent is sick here
Upgrade at RB - Williams and Williams to complement Malena
Upgrade at QB - Manziel is going to get better, and play more and more within the system
Upgrade at DL - played entire season with three DT, depth improves tremendously
Downgrade at LB - unproven
Upgrade at DB - once again, depth

Will A&M lose any coaches? If KK stays, MNC aspirations will prevail with our favorable schedule. Too many question marks right now.

Your quote about A&M

quote:

Both projected first rounders in the first 20 picks of the first round. They both will be gone and you will have a sophomore center that has never started.

Both your starting safeties are seniors and two of your starting LBs.

Luke Joeckel is undecided. He said he'll consult with his parents and coaches and make a decision after the bowl. His dad is on record as saying he wants Luke to stay and graduate next December. KDS obviously wants him to stay. Luke's twin bro is also a backup QB for us. Nobody knows if Luke leaves.

The other tackle is Jake Matthews. Son of Bruce Matthews (NFL record 19 time Pro-Bowler). He's not hurting for money. If Luke goes pro Jake likely stays and plays LT next year to up his draft stock. His brother is also the starting Center next year. He'll be able to play on the line with his bro a year. And I'm not worried about Little Matthews at Center. He's a stud.

Both our starting safeties are not Sr's. We start 1 Sr in the secondary and he will be easily replaced.

So, you don't know much about our team as you think

You sir are a horrible troll. You've tried in multiple threads without a single bite.

But you were serious in this thread. And you just got your arse handed to you.

Unless you consider being wrong and then easily corrected a solid troll

Better, and here's why:

QB - same, but Manziel will improve.

HB - better. Our best running back was ineligible this year (Brandon Williams)

WR - same. We lose Swope, Nwachukwu, and McNeal, but gain Adeboyejo, Seals-Jones, Parker, Tabuyo, Jaquay Williams, Gonzalez, and Echols-Luper

TE - better. We lose Lamothe but gain Clear

OL - same if both Joeckel and Matthews stay, slightly worse if one leaves, worse if both leave

DL - better regardless of whether or not Moore stays. Significant upgrades at DT

LB - worse. You don't just replace Porter and Stewart that easily

DB - better. Great influx of talent and depth coming in

K - can't get much worse than Bertolet

P - slightly worse depending on Kaser's play

You can't tell me losing those two tackles will you "slightly worse". Thats so much bullshite its unbearable.

Seals-Jones isn't even committed, and there are very few fresh WR's who even contribute very much at all. Even phenoms like DGB barely contribute.

A few of those fish will be available for Spring ball. We'll miss Swope, but Evans is Manziel's favorite target. Kennedy really came on at the end of the year as well.

Plus problems on the line can be helped with scheming and a real TE. The backups on OL all saw extensive time this year

You must not know what a beast Cedric Ogbuehi is. And Jake will be back so that's a moot point

I think you have to take the schedules into acount and if records don't reflect it, then UF will be better, not worse. Auburn and Arkansas will not right those ships automatically either. They are a mess. I think GA will go 10-2 regular season, so not much worse than this year with the schedule being more difficult.
